some impressive horse shite in the ad too:

If you were thinking of buying say an early Golf for Restoration purposes. This will make a Fantastic car for a project both during and after completion. The five cylinder engine revs to 6000 revolutions per minute as standard and sounds AWESOME with an aftermarket SPORT exhaust.

The seller manages to convey appoximately NO INFORMATION AT ALL about the condition of this car in his description

"Rather than be used to buy back toxic debt from crippled financial institutions, Sir Mervyn King cofirmed that the money will instead be used to buy the golf and fit it with some carlos fandango wheels, a 67 ball on the aerial and some chinese-made pram springs"

I used to own that! Bought it out of the Practical Classics small ads, got it home and when I went over it I realised it needed a hell of a lot more work than I thought, so swapped it for a Nova. That was over seven years ago - it's been on the chap's lawn ever since. The engine was a runner when I had it, but it had no brakes. For what it's worth, the welding that has been done will probably have been done to a pretty high standard as the chap is (or used to be) a professional welder.

Oh thats a clear advert, a 'running and driveable' Maestro van which needs a battery to start and some brake components.....He has no excuses for the rear lights though, just nick some disco ones you clown!

They were probably sold to a Disco owner."yes, its for a Meastro van. Please don't try and rip me off because my ownership of a ridiculously cheap 4x4 means you think I am a member of the landed gentry"

1987 Austin Metro 1.0

"I brought it for a run around a couple of months ago and ended up giving it the rat look. Is a 1 litre and has only got 26500ishh on the clock"

"stripped out interior, afraid doesnt come with any seats unless someone can give me a decent offer with the bucket seats in before friday when they go"

Two months ago eh? Looks like you've done a bang-up job of looking after it, it looks really appealing now.

Sorry to drag this one from the archives, but out of morbid curiosity I did an online checky thing on the (sh)at look Metro and apparently E795 JDF is not a Metro but indeed a VW Golf GTi, which was last taxed 6 years ago.

Someone's gonna be in trouble...

Heres a cheap GTM, maybe my all-time favourite kit car I reckon.

Mine too! I went with the ex Mrs P to see one in Doncaster. The lad selling it took her out "for a spin". Literally. He spent the test drive doing donuts on an industrial estate to impress her. She let it be known in no uncertain terms that I was not having it

What an ill-advised POS! I like the slapdash whitewall ditchfinders done in white emulsion.

WTF?!!! Did he do that for a bet?

A good car to buy if you live in Surbiton and your next door neighbours are into their gardening in a big way.

 I forgot all about the Leadbetter's ovlov!
