YELLOW PEUGEOT CABRIOLET RAFFLE - DRAWING TONIGHT (05/07)

AS mentioned in my 'memoirs', I think it's time for someone else to take on the little 306 cab. I've had some real fun over the last few months, but it now needs someone with time and patience (or disposable income) to take it on. My OCD prevents me from owning anything that's in any way slightly broken, and it's irritating to own something so handsome yet...err... broken.

GOOD

  • The previous owner literally threw money at it. New hood ECU, Full service and belts done by a specialist 120 miles from his house (he wanted a good job)
  • I have continued to throw cash at it (two new handbrake cables and one rear caliper last month along with new screen)
  • 12 months MOT
  • Wheels were refurbished in January and look fucking glorious. Shod in fantastic Toyo Proxes.
  • Desirable 'Sundance Yellow' (I'm now having doubts about selling it - it's amazing)
  • 2.0 engine is 135 bhp and brisk. Also will do 45mpg on a run.
  • Strut brace YO.
  • Interior is lovely - no leather so no burnt bottoms on a hot day. All original I.C.E.

BAD


  • The steering is a bit heavy. It's not got any worse in the 4,000 miles I've had it. Probably the pump getting tired. It doesn't bother me,
  • The clutch is heavy. This is a known idiosyncrasy of RHD cars. I think the cable runs too close to the exhaust and dries up. Able bodied drivers will be fine - others should consider different cars (probably an automatic or a Honda Jazz)
  • Paint is better in some places than others. It's the best one I could find at the time though
  • Fuel guage hasn't worked since it had a new in tank pump last year. (Previous owner flashing the cash again) 350 miles to a tank easily achievable.

UGLY

  • Just the one. The roof. Obviously. Last night it decided to make a few strange noises, and it seems that it has lost about 70% of its hydraulic oil. I would say one of the hoses has popped near to the motor in the boot, but that's just from watching it for 15 minutes last night. I think it's been slowly leaking for some time now, because it has become increasingly erratic for some weeks. You have three options really.
  • Fix it. Either yoursen or with help from one of the many companies who do this kind of thing day in, day out.
  • Ignore it. Disconnect two pins from the hydraulic rams and operate the roof manually. (It is possible to do this without disconnecting, but it's infinitely easier if you're not working against the system.
  • Remove it. Take the whole fucking thing out and have a beach buggy. My neighbour has a little MG with no roof, and it never bothers him. You could even buy a hard top for winter/outdoor storage.

Collection either from my house (Near St Neots) or work (Watford - easy for trains from everywhere).  Roof is shut manually atm so no worries, and it will honestly drive absolutely bloody anywhere.

Not doing roffles anymore, tired of losing, but this looks lovely.

Hey Richard.  Thanks man.  It's a cracker, the only person who loves it more than me is my 4 year old lad!  The replacement will a bit special to get his seal of approval.

 

Disappointed you're not taking part (what with it being bright fucking yellow) but understand. I've yet to win a Raffle either!

I sort of agree, but then thickos like me have to scroll back when using the phone too see how the numbers list is going, and what's left.

Maybe the trick for Roffles is to have a signature line like:

 

ROFFLE ACTIVE (this links to the Roffle thread) then: 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10 etc. REMAINING. And the first page of the roffle has the list.

 

You could just start with 1-59 available, then 1-10, 12, 15, 20-46, etc.

15 down already - which is a nice strong start.  Thanks for helping out a brother.

 

I have located a very strong candidate to replace this which is in south wales, so delivery may be a possibility if I can tie it in with collecting the new one and you'd be happy to chauffeur me to the vendor.

 

More if we can get all tickets sold.
