E-plate Transit ...oddly not rough as old boots...spotted this evening.

Heard it way before I saw it...been too long since I'd heard the racket of the old DI engine being ragged to death turning into the main road.

I'm pretty sure I'd not actually want to live with that engine (I'll stick with my comparatively refined Merc OM.601 thanks...), but it's such a distinctive backdrop especially to the early 90s that it doesn't half trigger some nostalgia for me...

Trying to figure out how someone has managed to find a tidy 80s Transit...and ideally find and borrow their time machine...

I followed an exceptionally clean looking K registered Cavalier Mk3 through town today.   Local car, still had Picador Vauxhall dealer plates and was resplendent in doom blue with plakky wheel trims.   Not really my thing - I peaked with the Mk1 - but bloody lovely to see it.

Couple of nice spots out and about today.

First was an immaculate D reg Capri in a dark green colour. It was coming down the road towards me in traffic, driver saw me ogling at it so I gave him the thumbs up which he seemed pleased about smiling back.

Second was a 1959 or 60 Buick Invicta on the A27 on the back of a recovery truck. Lookedlike it had just arrived in this country as I think it still had US plates on. Very very nice car though so someone’s having a great start to 2019.

I was beguiled by the sight of  Daytona Yellow Elan (Sprint, I think) yesterday.   So mesmerised, in fact, I completely failed to notice the Snapdragon Princess behind it.   Apparently he was waving to the Cowley.   Sorry fella....Too much yeller on the road at once!

HHC389 - glimpsed the rear of this strange looking thing as it went past me; a bit like a UPS truck designed by a seven year old. Front wheels all sticky-out from the arches; sounded a bit V8 tho.

G395WJM - Bluebird hatchback; drove off just as I approached with camera. Bugger.

Good day for spotting shite today. I was driving though, hence no pics.

First was a Bedford CF custom van and a Triumph Acclaim in Bognor.

Then a rough as fuck chrome bumper MGB on the A3 just north of Petersfield. Looked like a daily driver.

A driveway full of decaying MG’s and a Minor up near Hindhead.

Then the unusual occurrence of spotting two elderly French classics within minutes of each other!

First was a brown Renault 20 just outside Portsmouth. I’ve seen this a few times, it’s a local car and the guy dailies it! He’s also got a Renault 30.

Then shortly after I spotted a 1980, early shape, Renault 5 near Cosham.

Not a bad days spotting for this time of year!

No camera with me as I was just coming back from the school run, but coming the other way I passed a red R reg Escort. Only slightly remarkably remarkable in itself, but the driver was actually SMOKING A PIPE :o I don't think I've ever seen that before, even in the days when smoking was more common.

Beautiful sunny. road right beside the sea, and along came one of these. Absolutely gleaming wood and mid blue paint, i'm even sure it was RHD as the lady sitting left was holding her hat and the gent (60's- 70's) looked to be just enjoying the drive.

1947 Ford Sportsman, apparently only a few thousand were made.

It is the car you don't expect to see.
