I think for the pipes that run near the exhaust manifold, (which is beautiful), you're looking for a loose fitting sleeve, rather than a tape.

The car is looking great.

I had an even better idea, I am going to have the power steering pipes extended and route them neatly on the inner wing well away from the manifold. I am still trying to avoid wrapping the exhaust if possible as I love how it looks. As long as I don't get fuel evaporation issues on aΒ  hot day due to under bonnet temps then I don't plan to wrap the manifold.

Because it's Cedric's 50th* birthday this year πŸ˜€ I bought him some wheels.

Super Star SS06's

https://kyushashoes.com/product/super-star-ss-06/

This set were custom made by Barrel Bros in Australia who you may have seen on Mighty Car Mods or Benny's Custom Works etcΒ

They have a pretty cool channel of their own now πŸ˜€

The wheels are all 7" wide with 1.5" of dish and replica centre caps. Cost Β£2000 shipped to UK.

The tyre's I am getting are Β£900 for a set of four. Most expensive tyre's I have ever purchased. One of the reasons they are so expensive is because they are the exact same ones that would have come on a Ferrari Dino new in 1971. They are rated for 168MPH too so Cedric has room to grow....

So yeah a Β£3000 birthday present for a car that only cost Β£6000. But only the best for Cedric. Plus I always wanted the cool Japanese car with the cool period correct JDM alloys and now I have achieved that dream.

*Or 52nd....Β

"It came to Finland in 1970, to Datsun-dealer "Autokeskus" in Helsinki, and as it wasnΒ΄t so popular/easy to sell in Finland they had to keep it in their own use for the first couple of years.Β

Finally it found a new owner from "KannelmΓ€ki" Helsinki, an old woman, who bought the car to carry her invalid son with it. She had the car for nearly 20 years up til 1992?Β

Then it was bought by "workshop-entrepreneur" from "Keimola" who had the car for rally support/towing vehicle for ten long years. It was too hard for the D and it was deregistered and taken off the road in 2002…

Reijo from "Porvoo" found the car in 2006, and did what had to be done. Car was reregistered in 19.08.2008, in good condition again.

I bought the D in 19.05.2015…

You are the proud owner from Β 3.12.2017->Β

I found one pic from 1971 where the D is still new,Β J,"

My actual car new in 1971. Gives me goosebumps lol

So Jani says he was built in 1969 but didn't sell for two years which is why his Finnish and now UK registration documents show 1971.

However when I sent Iwan in Holland (owner of white Cedric 130 Saloon that @dollywobblerdrove) a picture of Cedrics knob* he told he that he was built in 1971. So I would like to maybe find out his exact birthday from the chassis number. Need to contact Nissan Heritage.....

*Quarterlight knobΒ you dirty people haha.

Don't think I have posted that before.Β  Same guy who wrote it is doing a feature on Cedric for Classics Monthly once his headlining is done which is booked in for 7th of June.

The white Cedric there was one of our wedding cars.

PM me with your chassis number, I might be able to work something out.

Picked up a spare engine for Cedric today for Β£150. I was going to take the van but a mate was free so went in his Discovery. The seller had a genuine 260Z Super Samuri which he fired up πŸ˜€

Then I saw an R34 Skykline at a petrol station on the way home.Β  So a good day!

  • Heidel_Kakao changed the title to Estate(s) of the nation - Cedric is back on the road!!! 23-05-2021!

So Jez @tommotechwas a massive help today and Cedric is now back on the road. We bled the brakes, fixed the throttle linkage (Jez master fabricator did a great job) and put the steels on. I gave him a Jet Wash and cleaned the glass. Filmed a few YouTube videos and then decided to drive him to my Mother's.

Then a mate wanted picking up from work...... So Cedric has been prowling the mean streets of Birmingham City Centre πŸ˜€ On open headers lol. I had ear protection on haha.

Nice! Probably still sounded nicer than insert_birmingham_stereotype_here and his/her/their expensive 'modified' modern shit...Β
