Jesus. Is it better than it looks? Because it doesn't look very good from here

It will look better after a jet wash.

265Gle- posh! Does that have the PRV V6? Always wanted one of those, from that sort of period

It would have had a PRV from new but it doesn't currently have an engine. PRV's are dogshit anyway so that's probably a blessing. No idea what engine it will end up with yet either lol.

Small-block Chevy or SOHC Mustang are popular choices across the Pond.

Lovely! Given that he has arrived with you via a greyhound rescue charity, would he be Sonic the PledgeDog? :-)

Or a lovely Lexus 3UZ? Or keep it Volvo and a turbo T5? So many options lol

She scrubbed up okay in my opinion.... I have decided on a Volvo T5 turbo engine which combined with the 265 GLE factory limited slip differential and  manual gearbox should make a super fun skid mobile.

Lovejoy would approve I think 😀

I would check what’s left of the underside first…Green Bower are a Pembrokeshire dealership, if that car spent most of its life in South West Wales it will have seen a lot of damp winters.

I don’t think Volvo galvanised anything on 240 body shells until the final facelift in 85. They resisted rust much better than most 70/80s cars but they didn’t last for ever.

My Volvo is a galvanised Welsh car and I think you'll find it's in great* nick.

Ouch ...... Cedric had a bit of a prang and also killed a fellow Nissan (08 Micra) in the process.

20210706_211540.thumb.jpg.5d625ad27e498094ec640f130cfa566c.jpgWe have the parts and technology to rebuild him better, stronger, faster 😀 Cedric is immortal, long live Cedric!

Sonic wasn't with me thankfully and I don't have a scratch on me. It was actually a four car incident! Car one that caused it and car two that was also involved drove off without stopping. Car three that I went into the driver was a bit shook up but his airbag hadn't deployed so it can't have been that bad.

Years ago Car Mechanics did a two part article on this guy that fitted an Isuzu diesel to a 265.

Yikes.  Looks pretty bad.  Look carefully at all the geometry won't you.  Not wishing to be pessimistic pete but that could be worse than it looks, as well as better than it looks.  Go steady young man.

Sorry to see this damage. Stay in charge of your car and don’t let insurers take over.

as others have said,

im sorry to hear of the accident, but im glad to hear that your unscathed :)

and I hope that the Cedric can be repaired with relative  ease and that its just surface panel damage with no deeper nasties hiding anywhere!

(and that your insurance premiums dont go through the roof because of this!)

Maybe car two was trying to chase down car one?

Can anyone recommend a good classic car accident repair place? Preferably one that isn't fully booked for months.

Who knows mate. Or they just were not insured which is a very real possibility in Birmingham unfortunately.

Random but I do love Birmingham..... The city of a thousand trade's where you can still get anything made. Best curry in the world, we have a BT Tower,  the Rotunda,  a Lego Store, great transport links etc etc.

After Amsterdam, Birmingham is my favourite city ❤

I'd argue this is the best Birmingham song.

Or should that be Birmin'haam.

Further evidence that Randy Newman is one of the greatest composers we've seen.

I wonder if when he's being repaired they could fix the electrically operated side window AKA "Dog Window" as Sonic would love that 😀 Also fit the air conditioning kit.... I mean I am a busy CEO with a lot of projects going on so why not let the professionals look after Cedric for a bit?

I drove him home from the accident (the police said I was fine to do so) and he drove as well as he ever does. The car is a fucking survivor,  he's partied with rock bands, car has had a more interesting life than me.  You think one little fender bender is going to affect a "real" car?

I will get a full four wheel laser alignment done on it though just to be sure.

Just emailed Jani who I got Cedric from about the spare bonnet and doors he still has in his loft for Cedric.

My BiL but he is ooop north. Makes panels and repair sections for all sorts of stuff he’s had in. Mainly does old frog chod but has wheeling and panel beating background.

Tragic about Cedric I’ve always had a real soft spot for that era of Japanese motors.
