KruJoe Posted June 9, 2017 Posted June 9, 2017 The car is tucked up in the shed at the top of the hill, I have sent the location to a few likely attendees for this Sunday. Anyone's welcome to come along... if nothing else, it's a nice ride out. Here's its view over Malhamdale: If anyone else wants to know where to come, speak up, or PM me. Stand by for more sphere gubbins... Coprolalia, rob88h, oldcars and 6 others 9
KruJoe Posted June 9, 2017 Posted June 9, 2017 Sorry Mark, Google Translate drew a blank on that one. Spheres:There are two used spare spheres with the car, I've tried to snap the markings for ID.First one: They both have "ND" stamped on the brass snouty bit. (Techy term) The second: I think that says "Y61" The two fronts on the car look older, The NS one is rusty AF. The OS one looks like someone's had Stilsons on it. Sadly I can't make out any markings on the fitted spheres. Mark_Hairnet has slid into my D_Ms about spheres... apparently there's a place really close to where he works that deals with them. Recharges them an'all. It's handy to know, lets see what we find out from those pics, and this weekend's tinker time. strangeangel, rob88h, stillOrange and 1 other 4
hairnet Posted June 9, 2017 Posted June 9, 2017 the 55 might be the pressure as the specs on gsf site lists 62 are the ones with the brass bits the rears as the front are all screw on?? never been under the back/dealt with rears before KruJoe and strangeangel 2
hairnet Posted June 9, 2017 Posted June 9, 2017 http://www.westroen-spheres.co.uk/Directions.htm will pop down and ask him tomorrow - used walk past his house on the way to skool for 5 years - edit and yes hes been going that long always get him mixed up with pleides strangeangel, beko1987 and KruJoe 3
beko1987 Posted June 9, 2017 Posted June 9, 2017 That's handy then, even if the spares don't fit if that bloke can fix the existing ones then win, plus they can keep their patina! I'll try and lob some groat in the pot once the quote comes in! Or get hair net to bring him over! KruJoe and strangeangel 2

Cleon-Fonte Posted June 9, 2017 Posted June 9, 2017 BX14 front spheres run at 55 bar pressure which I'm guessing is what the number represents. The rears run at 40. There's a sphere identification chart available here:http://cx.podolsk.ru/xm/docum/citroen_kule.pdf holbeck, KruJoe, DeeJay and 1 other 4
hairnet Posted June 9, 2017 Posted June 9, 2017 i was like wtf in euros but then clocked where they lived dur http://www.sphere-shop.co.uk/11--14-br-all-models-1215-c.asp
hairnet Posted June 9, 2017 Posted June 9, 2017 Lovely location, sadly too far for me this weekend.and you have a limo and a sports car
strangeangel Posted June 9, 2017 Author Posted June 9, 2017 Once we've removed the old spheres, for some reason I feel like the only sensible way to dispose of them is to bury them in the ground. HillmanImp, richykitchy, RobT and 6 others 8 1
rml2345 Posted June 10, 2017 Posted June 10, 2017 Give one to your significant other as a gift. They make lovely ornaments...55 will be bar pressure but I'm unsure of what the other markings mean. The replacements don't look in their first flush of youth either but as long as they're not ruptured Hairnet's sphere man should be able to regas them. Ruptured ones can't be regassed IIRC.
dollywobbler Posted June 10, 2017 Posted June 10, 2017 I doubt the spheres can be regassed. The ride was so bouncy that I reckon the internal diaphragms have failed, so Mat's warning about potential LHM pressure is very valid.
strangeangel Posted June 10, 2017 Author Posted June 10, 2017 Be careful with the bleed nipples. They shear off at the drop of a hat if you're not careful. Penetrating oil and gentleness required. Piss easy to bleed though. No pedal pumping here! I will be bringing a few spares, courtesy of Cleon-Fonte.
beko1987 Posted June 10, 2017 Posted June 10, 2017 At least if you take all the spheres off and find they are goose it can sit in Joe's shed for a while until the next round of fundraising is achieved. You going to try and improve the fuel sender hose arrangement or leave it be? KruJoe 1
hairnet Posted June 10, 2017 Posted June 10, 2017 spoke to westroen he wasnt in but his missus said they could as long as (youve said) the diaphrams arent fucked ill either go back later on or during the week told them cant do anyting till see if theyre off the car or not described the car to her and the solid ride and she said yes they do that when knackered (or when cms is driving) and ooh thats an early one.......... she started talking about c5 and 'you cant charge them have to buy citroen ones....' trigger, strangeangel and KruJoe 3
mat_the_cat Posted June 10, 2017 Posted June 10, 2017 This might be useful too, showing the differences between various spheres: richardmorris, Cleon-Fonte, KruJoe and 1 other 4
KruJoe Posted June 10, 2017 Posted June 10, 2017 Anyone else free to come tomorrow? PM me for more precise location details. All welcome!
dollywobbler Posted June 11, 2017 Posted June 11, 2017 Would love to, but seriously need a weekend at home. Also, it's many hours away.

3VOM Posted June 11, 2017 Posted June 11, 2017 Could someone remind me of what spec this car is, in case I spot any parts? BX 14 ? BX 14E?
dollywobbler Posted June 11, 2017 Posted June 11, 2017 14RE I think, with the suitcase engine (not TU as per later 14s). To be honest, engine and sphere pressures aside, there's not a lot of variety in the mechanicals other than a few different types of brake caliper (which have no connection to spec, just whatever they had lying around at the time). strangeangel 1
beko1987 Posted June 11, 2017 Posted June 11, 2017 Yey you got the spheres off! What's that foam bit with the partridge on?
richardmorris Posted June 11, 2017 Posted June 11, 2017 and you have a limo and a sports car Mercedes is away being painted, sports car fine but not a relaxing motorway cruiser at 4500rpm!
richardmorris Posted June 11, 2017 Posted June 11, 2017 Yey you got the spheres off! What's that foam bit with the partridge on? I've a feeling it's the air filter. Hopefully not the fuel filter!
