Yesterday my friend Mervyn hosted a car show in his home village of Willington near Bedford. He reckons there were over 200 cars present, a record for this little show. Here's some highlights.

^^ True, nice to see originality for a change. Both the Cresta and just for a change, a non-GTi Mk1 Golf.

Love the Panhard, the Bijou and the Ami. Still want a S1 or 2 CRX. Had a Cav in that colour blue (but this one's way better!) and dad had an identical saloon to the one shown (F-reg IIRC).

That chrome-arched Beemer needs a sympathetic facelift though!!!! God it's awful. Why?

Mercs - You should buy the Caddy - ideal for cruising your New Forest 'hood............

I think that Mk3 Cav might be the rare buttery biscuit base 4x4 version

I'm not sure it is. I don't think the info sheet mentioned it being 4x4 and I'm sure I would have remembered if it did, plus it's an automatic. Did a 2wd 2.0 L exist? Either way it must be a rarity with the big engine and basic trim.

I don't know what the solution is, but I live about 10 minutes away from here and had absolutely no idea it was happening - otherwise I'd have brought the Sierra over for a laugh.

As I say, I don't know what the solution is - but I keep missing good events.

The answer is probably getting a better social secretary.

I guess it's one of those local events that you have to be in the know about but I can give you the organiser's details if you want. The next one is on the evening of Tuesday 1st August from 6pm to sunset so if you can make it please do bring the Sierra.
