Cheltenham, mid ‘70s. I moved there in ‘79, kicked the tyres of an Ro80 in this same showroom, about ‘83. It was £750 and wouldn’t start, which was a shame as it was a lovely metallic blue and and had perfect alloys. ( I’d just sold a good-running but rotten brown Ro80 (steel wheels) for £450). Shortly afterwards  l put a deposit on a “repaired” Audi 100 Coupe, then decided I was being dum to buy such a dodgy motor and walked out on the deal. One of my better decisions! It was the same colour as the one in this picture, so very possibly the same car.C9BCDC08-DDB7-40A5-8EAC-95BF783CDAA3.thumb.png.c77af9fcc377ca6cbdc0a11dccbd273c.png

Monmouth - where I took my car test.
Lovely wide street is now crammed with shit street furniture and mods to make it “more attractive to visitors”
At the bottom of the street on the right was a Mercedes service garage and about half-way down on the left was a little garage where I sidn’t buy an Alfa 164 or a 4wd Mitsubishi Colt. It’s now an M+S food place.AD4E348D-66FC-48F1-BB8F-0921579074F2.thumb.jpeg.1e7c5a9e0f4bcc32d7127ce58a6bb906.jpeg

Been hoping for ages someone on the internet would post a picture of this place...

'George St Motor Exchange' was basically a sort of glorified cave, mostly full of ropey ADO16s he'd had from the auctions. He always looked quite old (to us youngsters at the time) but he couldn't have lived a long life as whenever he started one of his cars up it'd smoke the place out.

I tried to find some more info on when Burton's went to the wall. And found some later photos of the forecourt 20230402_102156.jpg.98cad1a36dfae96b9ed546d97804374c.jpgCan't remember who bought the garage or it burnt down, as that happens a lot in this town. Was a car park for a while.

Below is flattened. It's now a hotel on that site

Estate where my first house was, being built late '60s, I can only identify the Mini. The 'bridge' in the background is actually a pen for high explosives, it got landscaped over.
