Junkman
We stopped going there when they hired Thomas Gottschalk as discjokey. OlyDisco was the place we went, the village girls new in town went there, easy.... and the beer was much cheaper. As I said, I was there only once, because I always kinda loathed disco.Around that time we started to get gigs with the band, which actually began as a Bluegrass Combo. The very first one we had was at the Cowboy Club on the Flaucher. Then we became regulars at the Oklahoma Saloon in Schäftlarnstraße and the R&G Club within McGraw Kaserne. That was well before Rattlesnake Saloon days. Junkman
Don't tell me... Austrian people have got so much fatter in the last 45 years that they now need two locos to haul the train? Knödel... Springer

Spottedlaurel
/\ Has the Edinburgh chap just tripped over the kerb? Sudbury, Suffolk where I was born, grew up near to and started work in (in an office with a window giving me an excellent view of cars on Market Hill): Market Hill Sudbury Suffolk old postcard c. 1978 by Spottedlaurel, on Flickr East Anglian Magazine 10/78 - Market Hill, Sudbury (Rules AEC JGE987N) by Spottedlaurel, on Flickr I would have gone to school sometimes on that Rules coach. 1987 Volvo 240 estate on Market Hill, Sudbury by Spottedlaurel, on Flickr Still old stuff to be seen when I went back in 2006. And this is about the closest town to me now: Diss, Norfolk 1977 by Spottedlaurel, on Flickr I drove along that road in the Laurel just a couple of hours ago. I was just going to say I saw no trace of anything old, but have just remembered the A35 van I saw heading the other way. No '70s grey porridge though. eddyramrod, Cavcraft, mercrocker and 6 others
mercrocker
Main drag in Southampton - its High Street was actually a bit lower down - was Above Bar, named for being the continuation of the High Street itself beyond the medieval Bargate which separated the two thoroughfares. Here it is in its 1930s glory. Note the domed roof of the tram car enabling it to pass under the Bargate It was comprehensively remodelled in the Forties by Goering & Co, Builders.... Fifteen years or so later somebody put it back together and it was possible to buy satsumas and bakelite again.....Squinted hard at this but I don't think that is my Cowley there, although it spent its entire life in and around the city... Here is the same place a few years later in slightly less festive mood.... Later still, it became a precinct devoid of vehicles and thus of no further interest. So, for the 1970s shot we go right down the other end of the High Street where it peters out into the Town Quay. The railway line connected New and Old Docks and ran alongside Platform Road and Town Quay road. catsinthewelder, Fat_Pirate, Cavcraft and 5 others

Sir Snipes
I guess that's Aston bus station, but before my time. I recognise the bus services as I used them for several years, but not until they were orange over brown two-tone (& later Stagecoach, or Maynes at the weekend!) STUNO
My town 1952, no traffic. The town was brand new... 1953.. the first shops.. 1976..now we have a range of shops etc. and now..Still has no need for traffic lights and parking wardens. And the reason for the town's existence, Kinleith paper mill.. 3 km out of town downwind ! Kinleith paper mill nr Edinburgh was the inspiration for the name. The M.D. of the company here was a Scotsman. So we have street names as below beacause this was his company town.Torphin. Esk. Clyde. Tweed. Abercorn. Strathmore. Moray . St Andrews. Solway. Fife. Jedburgh. etc. etc.. Then came the coronation of QE2 so Elizabeth. Edinburgh. Windsor. Margaret. Charles. Ann. Andrew. Edward. Right up to Princess Beatrix Avenue.Still no traffic. privatewire, UmBongo, Junkman and 7 others

Junkman
i think the audiance needs some explanations. Being a cowboy was the second biggest thing to do for visiting austrians after... Zorro, Gringo and Zappata riding through an again surprisingly Ford dominated Munich.I remember that Diermeier was a huge dealership, but not that they had practically cornered the market.
