Pull the bonnet release on that Fiesta, grip the underside of the bumper with both hands and then give it a firm tug - dripping with rust as it is, £20 says it'll take the entire front panel with it, headlights and all. I did that to a rotten old B-reg I had some years ago... made engine removal a little easier though

What do MkI Fiesta's normally have for a tailgate then? Looks normal to me! Unless you're just talking about the fact they've relocated the number plate?

What's rarest in my book is the strange crossover you can get with MkI Fiestas with MkII tailgates but incorporating normal MkI rear lights. Looks most odd, yet I've seen many like that over the years. Not sure what the story is!

Those incredibly slimy Marina's & Ital take me back to the similarly decrepit van ones somebody posted a few months ago. Almost nightmarishly horrible condition! Who leaves them out to grass like that for no reason!?

These days they seem to have been bodged with mk2 tailgates-thats why that one seems rare to me......

Simply, that Ford almost immediately stopped making replacement mk1 tailgates when the mk2 came out - mk2 tailgates were never factory-fitted to mk1 Fiestas. The hinges bolt to the body identically and all the fittings are interchangeable I believe - glass, wiper motor etc. The mk1 tailgates are also prone to rotting along the lower edge (the mk2 item admittedly is not much better in this respect). For the record, rear lights will also swap from one to the other but I think the wiring would need modifying first.

For some perverse reason I *really* want to get my hands on a MkI XR2. Would have to be an absolutely mint condition diamond white example, though, complete with all the original 80s spec. stick on black vinyl bits.

hmmmm I`m liking the Buick....I think it`s got something to do with that red interior (not to mention 7.5 ltr V8!) but I`m guessing the speedo must read in kph as I think 200mph is rather optomistic

My guess is, it IS an optimistic MPH speedo- can you really see the Yanks fitting a car with a KPH speedo?

Is that bubbling along the boot edge? Howcome a 1975 car is a 1980 W reg? They've put alot of effort into that auction though, you have to give them that!
