Uncle Jimmy
Reliable, 6 pot, 3 litreish? Estate, Japanese, not too oddball that finding parts is a mare.Any ideas? Maybe a Benz but I wonder if newer models are very reliable?

sierraman
I'd say a Volvo. Newer Mercs/BMWs not more reliable than anything else these days. You can get a tidy Volvo for next to fuck all, they aren't a particularly desirable car as they get old, don't have the image of BMW. NorfolkNWeigh
The 3.0 V6 Repmobile estate such as the 406 above or Mondeo,Laguna, Xantia, Vectra etc are a rare and fast dying breed. Even the Old Bill use 2.0 dizzlers these days , for a few hundred quid,it's now or never and you should get one whilst you can. Guest Breadvan72
Also, don't rule out a Jaguar X Type. I have one of these with a three litre V6, and like it. Mine has OK sills, and the cars benefit from cheapish parts. The drawback is that well looked after ones still cost a bit. Ok, they're only 2.5s and not 3.0s but that should still be enough, surely? AMC Rebel
Stebob
In mk3 flavour they did the mk3 in a 3.0 but a slightly detuned version as used in the st220, think it was in either Ghia x or titanium flavour, still threw out just over 200 brake, definitely more of a sleeper than the st's Steve Supernaut

Supernaut
I'm keeping an eye on this thread, as I'm considering something about 2.0-3.0 litre-ish and manual gearboxed for my next car. I still need to pull my finger out and make an effort to shift the Xantia first. Go buy some more roffle tickets in my thread!
