Jim Bell
That Sexton will never die. It's too cool for death. Great to see it's still getting improved man. Just seems like six months ago you were away to fetch it, but it's more like six years! dome and Out Run

According to a UK specialist/licker, a red mk1 is a rare sight, these days. Maybe it's earned a wash? 😂 AnnoyingPentium

Out Run
So, old, plastic headlights... I had restored these a couple of times before, but I never protected them. So they degraded again and the light output was laughable. The first time, properly and then In September '21 I done a so-so job on them and UV lacquered them for protection. A mistake. This does not work. So I bought another 3M drill kit and completed the stages. But I was also keen to protect them again. I settled on another 3M product; Quick HEADLIGHT CLEARCOAT. This comes in the form of a folded wet wipe of sorts, you apply two coats, the clear film hardening to an invisible finish. Hopefully it lasts a while. You can see how 'frosted' the lacquer had made the surface and check the output from the dipped beam when the lenses were lacquered (van pic) and now. ERMAGHERD, you can even see the beam pattern in built up areas. Just like a real car - with ancient headlights. I'm calling that a win. Out Run
The Ssangyong Rexton mk1, despite much misinformation is superior to all other separate chassis 4X4's of the time and it makes me mad to read the misinformation regarding them being banned from the road, due to being unsafe and people wrongly believing you could not buy a pricate example! most folk don't buy them because they look shit. IMO they are far better than the feeble, outgoing MK 12 Musso and the wheel arches look amazing. She may not have a chassis to shame a Challenger tank, adjustable SPAX damping and a rollover bar with as much structural integrity as a splintered broom shank, but would turn one of those things into something that would fit in a bin liner, with ease she'll run on veg, as opposed to looking like one. 🙂 *links numerous previous posts* Jim Bell, Nails1979 and Fumbler
AnnoyingPentium
Good call on polishing headlights. Makes a world of difference... However, the best choice was to just do this... I don't know if you can do such a thing as replacing light units on the Rexton, as I don't imagine they make new units for the car. Worth doing if you can, for sure. TBH, you probs can get new ones. Or maybe Aliexpress has my back with some crazy LED things. I'll have to look. I'm more than happy to spend an hour on them, as they come up like new - it's just when you can't seal the protection in, that sucks. Hopefully those 3M wipes do the bizzo!
