How did you discover Autoshite?

I'm another one from RR, way back in 2006. In those early days I remember discussion about trying to get in contact with Wuvvum, little realising that I'd seen some of his cars parked-up in Norwich and that he'd end up helping me out with a few collection missions.

Going back in time from that, I joined RR after meeting RWelfare after I visited him to buy some old magazines (off eBay IIRC). It might have been easier if he'd just mentioned AS straight off, but I'm not sure if it had started back in 2005?

Via the blue forum - came here, rarely been back to even look on there.

Currently don't have a shite car (unless 11 year old Saab count) but have so far managed to buy four bikes off of here, although only two I would describe as being shite (and oddly both were acquired from wuvvum).

Another member of the Practical Classics Rust in Peace section WH Smith lunchtime browsing club here (Surely nobody buys the magazine when Smiths let you read it for free) finally convinced to apply for membership after reading an excellent article by guest staff writer Dan Hirst regarding his Tokyo Taxi, liked it that much I actually bought the magazine.

It was 2008 and I can't recall the exact reason, but it coincided with me selling a mk1 Fiesta and replacing it with a hearing aid beige miniMetro (which I still own). So it might have been another Metro weirdo who pointed me here.

However, I do remember the first time I met a shiter. messerschmitt owner travelled up from Gloucester to South London to buy a Sherpa Camper off Torsten, and I met up with MO briefly. I had a beige Montego GSi at the time which seems a long time ago now. Sold the Montego to 109landy eventually but it got stolen and burnt out, although it was pretty far gone even before that!

Must admit I spend less time on here browsing these days, and have never been one to contribute loads, but can't see myself leaving anytime soon.

Great question- I've been meaning to share this.

I googled the registration plate of my Fiat X1/9 and it appeared in someone's spotted thread with the caption "sporty shite".

I was deeply offended but I stayed around long enough to realise that it was a great compliment!

It was through Breadvan72 on Pistonheads for me. There is some very good content on there if you can fight your way through the cum gargling thundercunts but I've never looked back since then.

This is also the only forum/car club where I actually socialise with the members. I've met some cracking folk through this place. Oh and 320touring ;)

Marty sort of invited me along (if you're looking for someone to blame) when I had my Chevette automatic. I got a rough ride off one of the gang who I reckon was digging me out/trolling, so I left for a bit. Came back on to let people know Marty had come off his motorbike, then stayed ever since, pretty much.

That horrible thing (motorbike accident) gelled everyone into messaging Marty and sending stuff to him in hospital, iirc, and I was very impressed with how great people were on here.

I was trying to track down who owned the Atlantis blue T reg SD1 that used to belong to Phil of this parish.  I asked about on the Rover SD1 (How much is my Vitesse TP worth) forum and someone pointed me in this direction.

Its given me many hours of entertainment, mainly the Ebay tat thread which was what I used to come on here for, it also coincided with me going back to driving Rovers.

This is a great place, yes you get the odd moron/WUM/Troll but go anywhere in the world and you wont have to look too hard to find a dickhead. The regular folk on here are all 18 carrot.  Whats more this man would have approved of 99.9865% of the deals that take place on here.

I signed up late 2007 with my original user name and got so sick of waiting for approval I simply forgot all about it.

After speaking to a member who mentioned AS I thought I would try again, since it wouldn't let me in I reregistered again and 8 months later thanks to another member intervening (think it was fred transit) I was finaly permitted access in 2009, been here ever since and don't really use the other forums much at all nowadays.

A free BX estate led me to BX Club's forum who were just about to have their annual meet at Gaydon.  A few folk were selling bits to me so it made sense to wander along and find that they were a cracking bunch.  It turned out that most of the crowd that I got horribly drunk with were members of the BX project forum which like many forums was killed by Facebook.  A link on there led me here where there were a few familier faces from the BX forums as well as folk I remembered from Conorads wonderfull Original Tin magazine.

Rust In Peace.  I'd seen references to Autoshite and eventually decided I needed to take a look.  And now you can't get rid of me.  I was in Cyprus at the time (2010) and moved back to UK just so I could participate.
