320touring
No fackin idea tbh, all I know is I have mair shite than I used to, and a most unbecoming attraction to fatally flawed French stuff noo. That and a top bunch of virtual (and some actual), mates. I believe it may have been via a link that Breadvan (remember him?) Put up on Pistonheads.. Pete-M
I received a message from someone on the Practical Classics forum suggesting that this place was more fun and less swooning. Been here since 2008 it appears.

DodgeRover
I think it was mentioned either on one of the incarnations of Freds Transit forum or RetroRides oh and it's come up a few times on OvalChat. There is a better sense of humour over here, or people are containing their displeasure is being held until things go postal.Oh and I missed SOCs inspired posts featuring the use of an oscilloscope in diagnostics and singing on his Capri restoration thread. captain_70s
Some sort of horrible, life changing accident. There I was getting my life all sorted out and becoming a functional human and then I found this place as though "fuck, there are others like me", next thing I know I'm entering raffles for Talbots and taking out shares in Easy Start... Actually I think Captain_Slow mentioned it to me ages ago, I tried to join and failed and then tried again some years later and succeeded. Unlike regular car forms people aren't all yelling "your car is BL shit and you should scrap it and buy a Mk2 Escort" or classic forums where people are all "you should do a concourse restoration and only take it out of the garage for car shows". Oh, or the blue forum where I'm just asked when I'm fitting the V8 and the banded steels. oldcars, myglaren, michael1703 and 10 others
Pillock
I think DarrenW pointed me this way, from retro-motoring.com fame. I was on RR at the time, it was getting a bit cliquey, and I'm sure he suggested here was more chilled. Which is weird since I think he was one of the people that came up with the idea for RR way back when!

Anglevan
I honestly can't remember - I joined in 2007 but it must have been the magic of Google that brought me to this parish. I had a few old sheds at the time so I guess I was looking for info. I did drop off here a few years back, but I still keep getting dragged into the magic that is Autoshite... dieselassist
Curiosity was 'aroused' via retrorides; often referred to as 'the brown forum' or AS back then - such mystery!! ... for a while, I thought it was ARonline that was being referred to, but a thread titled 'Is Autoshite website down again' (or something), n on that thread there were a few opinions of the 'shite forum like 'its negative', full of weirdo's etc etc , so I thought this must be worth checking out- I did lurk for a bit before joining... NorfolkNWeigh
I think I read about it on Pistonheads' then took about 4 months to get in, through Fred Transit's 999 forum I think.
Stanky
I saw a comment by Sam Glover in craptical plastics and came to have a look. Snap, for me it was when he was selling his Volvo 740 which I think is now owned by CMS206? Certainly one of the SVM.

Dick Longbridge
I was pretty active on the blue forum for a few years, and often heard whispers of the beige space. Eventually I discovered it, and signed up. I lurked for ages as I didn't feel like my own car ownership was relevant (lowered 2.8 mk2 Golf for ages, but sold around 18 months ago). However, I eventually realised that my mentality is vaguely on a parallel with a few on here, especially my annoying habit of buying 'there's a bit of work to do' cars, no matter what the price bracket. My claim to fame is that Bub delivered a wing to me using the Xantia of many shiters. He sounded more Northern than the Northernmost host, Parky, who's very Northern. Certainly one of the SVM.It's been here since June? 2012 (about a week before Shitefest 1 IIRC), still mostly running too. Not sure how I ended up here. IIRC I stumbled over the original autoshite.com when the forum was a separate entity and joined the forum thereafter. Skizzer
Sat up late drinking with Scooters, another former AS stalwart, and he told me I needed more crap cars in my life and this was where to find them. mouseflakes
Mouseflakes ... spotted that I was bidding on a lot of the cars that were appearing in the eBay Tat thread.Pretty sure it was a coachbuilt Hiace camper you were bidding on, or selling? And a CX. Regie Ritmo pointed me.So long ago, few here will even remember him!I persuaded Reg to come here after he bought my Renault 14. I remember when he first reported driving past your gaff. He thought he'd struck the shite mother lode. I came here after seeing some geezer called 'Pogweasel' was bidding on a Renault 6 on ebay. He had a link to Autoshite in his ebay 'about me' page. nigel bickle
