Thought it'd be easy to fix a non-working brake light. RONG.

I've never encountered monster capless bulbs like this before. What a pain in the arse. Naturally, I don't have any in stock. I never have!

I'm sorry but those look like bulbs from an old fashioned camera flash gun, use once and throw away.

As two smoke says, modern Vaux use those.

Paint solutions. Er...

Actually, touch-up paint was just my simple, not-very-precise way of dealing with ropey-looking wiper arms.

Also did the back one, and then washed all the guano off. This car is a proper bird-poop-magnet.

Small things, but I think it makes a difference. Also replaced the duff brake light bulb at last!

I've not driven this car this week, which has required huge self control. However, it is on limited mileage for the insurance ,so not driving it is the only way to get the average back down. I now have track rod ends, but the tyres are still awaited - hopefully next week. That should transform the way it drives. Then I need to factor in another fluid change to try and improve the flaring on shifts. I think it's the classic slow change, which muck is mostly responsible for. Doesn't slip in gear.

It's been pretty obvious that the tracking is way out on this thing. There are subtle clues, like the way it feels like the front wheels are trying to steer around different bends. Oh, and this tyre.

I'm quite ashamed of myself for that. I should know better. First time I've got a tyre down to the cords!

It was time for action.

It look literally seconds for Phil to change the track rod ends. He is skilled with a hammer.

Meanwhile, new rubber! Nokian Weatherproof. I bought these with actual money and look forward to testing them. Are they really weatherproof?

Another knackered bit here. This anti-roll bar drop link is utterly shafted. You can easily rattle it by hand. Same as Accord, so that'll be the next thing I have to bloody order.

Thought I'd make the most of a bit of ramp time and added even more Dyanx UB anti-rot stuff. It's had a good soaking now.

Lastly, lasers. I also got the chap to quickly tack the heat shield back on to the front silencer. It's getting dangerously refined now.

Certainly seems to be driving nicely again. Will have to see how it behaves in the rain now, but it was certainly well stuck on the drive home. Off to The Midlands again tomorrow.

I really like them. They definitely suit this car. Shame they're utterly, utterly shagged though. Turns out diamond cut alloys are a pretty bad idea. They sound nightmarish to sort out again too, so I doubt I'll bother. Maybe I need a set of steelies and a nice* set of Halfords wheel trims.
