Clio, gone but not forgotten.

Takes the clio into work to change the seat runners/mounts to these lowered versions as I am lanky and want to sit low down.

That took longer than expected.

Next job bleed the brakes through with some ate super blue racing fluid.

This didn't go well, fuck me it took forever to get the pedal back.

I made sure 100% I didn't let the master cylinder level drop while bleeding.

So I am sure no air got in that way.

Was bleeding it for ages and was still go straight to the floor and hardly any pressure of fluid coming out.

However air got in somehow, which meant this had to be borrowed to get the abs pump bled.

Fuck a duck it was doing my tits in. Went online and got the exact way of doing it off Renault which involves bleeding it normally in a odd way then bleeding it with the scanner in a odd way.

Then went out and did some hard stops to get the abs to kick in.

Then bled it again.

Finally the pedal came back and was firm.

On the plus side I didn't do any actual real work other that work on my car so that's a bonus.

It's waiting outside now ready to thrashed home.

So today I did a 14 hr stint in the hot seat.

400 odd miles.

When I got back I still wanted to go out and see if I could get it on three wheels on the local roundabout.

Basically loads of pink cars meet up in wales once a year, I only decided on Friday I was going, I thought they might all be a bit anal. I was wrong, they was a lovely bunch.

The drive was mega. A proper good thrash through some gorgeous Welsh roads.

There was some odd looks as a load of red clios came through.

This turned up today so I placed it on the mantle piece before mrs T got home.

Mrs T walks into the kitchen. “ I don’t think so”

And that was that. It’s place is yet to be decided

In other clio news I have been building up a right good load of bits to fit. Just can’t be arsed to actually fit them.

How much does a cambelt kit fitted cost for a pesky little clio cost you may ask.

Well let me tell you.....

There was quite a few small other jobs in there and it was done by the main man when it comes to 182 cambelts in the clio world and he did seem a mega nice fella.

It had the dephaser, water pump, cam seals, there was also a boot lock actuator in there, every other fluid changed including power steering. I was talking to a few other 182 lads who said theres all cost £600-£1000 depending on what else was done.

This thing already has cost me about £595 a mile anyway.

Makes me glad I did mine myself! £160 for genuine belt, tensioners, dephaser and water pump off eBay. Aux belt and tensioner included in that too. About £50 for the tools. And a fair bit of time, but with a great sense of achievement

Still got the locking tools, just in case another should cross my path again...

I might go that route next year when mines due, did you get the full set of tools for 50 quid?

Aye, they were second hand but had never been used.

Pay £12 to join cliosport.net for a year when you come to do it, that'll get you access to the online guides. Takes a bit of getting your head round (especially setting the timing) and it's fucking tight but its doable. I covered doing mine in my thread.

I skived off work yesterday early as it was gorgeous, so I was sat in the garden with the two fat cats thinking it’s too nice to go inside.

I know, I will clean the car good and proper the full two bucket shin dig.

I had not long purchased a load of chemicals cleaning gear. So I was ready.

I went to work even using a clay bar and some proper lube. But on the last two panels I got lazy and didn’t fold it over much and surprise surprise it left some scratches in the paint. This pissed me off good and proper.

I ended up using non stick builders tape on the plastic and I bashed out the g3 and the polisher. Then bashed some finishing compound on and it came up nice. Will end up doing the rest sometime but just not last night.

It was bleeding about 10pm once I had done

Moral of the story. Don’t clean cars.

Did 4 Laps in the afternoon and it was pretty chaotic but most off all pretty fucking scary the very first lap when it is all a complete unknown was the worst. My quickest was probably about 3hr 41mins. My bro also did a lap which was worse I was probably more scared then as I wasn’t in control.

There was a few off that we saw, a mini gp got towed back with all the side airbags gone off. There was a also a e36 that clipped the wall while going sideways.

There was mega motors everywhere. Highlights where the e30 Netherlands get together.

And quite a few Sherpa coupes on tour.

The museum is also worth a gander.

Stayed in a ace place called Andernach in a old school German hotel.

We had a view of the Rhine and the hotel had a dog. So instantly a 10/10.

The next day was spent in Cologne and the cathedral there is not too shabby.

Parked next to this in the underground car park.

Then the next day we went off to spa. Which had a track day on and there were some very special motors there.

The place was deserted apart from the cars on track and we could wander where we wanted.

Then after that we went off into the Ardennes and stayed in Bastogne. And did some exploring and ww2 site seeing.

bddc99253de0083f44f909cfd1982f0a.jpg

Then after another night we headed back.

a86560c9b11e6ab03cabc7ffcfd07fcc.jpg

Overall we did 1561 miles and it did an average of 37.3 to the gallon according to the on board computer. Don’t know if that’s right or not as couldn’t be bothered to check properly.

I filled up quite often though.

With cruise control, air con and some Bluetooth stereo action it was pretty civilised really.

Only used about 100ml of oil as well which ain’t bad considering the pounding it took. Especially on the unrestricted autobahn sections.

Overall would do again.
