Jut to show I'm not heavy on my cars, the Toledo had sat in the garage for 3 months until it got its MOT yesterday.

It was on 49818 miles.

Today, this happened

post-17572-0-55152600-1520802607_thumb.jpg

It's currently on 50007.

I think it'll see active service on the station and 'up north to Oxford' run for a while.

Also, on the way up this morning, just south of Dundee, I passed a Polis motor in a layby.

As I pootle past on the nose of 70mph, I clocked the ANPR camera and thought "bet I get a wee stop".

Sure enough, out they came and it was blues only into the next layby.

Up walks the officer, and I say my good mornings.

"Yer Corr is showing as SORN, sir"

"Ah yes, it was MOT'd yeaterday, so the tax is probably not showing yet.

I have taken a screenshot after completing taxing the car, Can I show you it?"

"Certainly sir... Ahh, that's grand cheers"

.....

.....

"Bet there's no many of these on the road, eh?"

Cue 5 mins nattering about old toledos and my Oxford:)

Good times!

I've stuck 500 miles on this since the MOT, and it's apparent that there is a fair bit needing done still.

A quick list for my own reference:

1. Clutch friction plate and cable. It's not nice to use and can slip - replacement of both required.

2. Engine feels 'restricted' and is not pulling cleanly - It's already had a fuel filter , so I'll need to find out what else is causing the issue - could be fuel supply or ignition.

3. Timing belt/tensioner are due. Probably needs done before the Clutch as timing marks are on the flywheel.

4. Brakes are still not confidence inspiring - fresh fluid and some adjustment may be needed.

5. Potential coolant change needed.

6. Interior cleaning /defugging and trim repair to stop rattles/squeaking heater blower.

7. External clean and wax needed to protect it.

8. Would probably benefit from 4x 175/70/13 tyres all of same brand.

9. Radio needs fitted.

10. Need to locate (or have made) a second key.

11. New front springs have shown the dampers to be past their best - fronts deffo needed, rear to be checked.

Gotta love old cars!

This has not moved since I did the job list..

I've just been to start her as I need her for tomorrow - she's on Oxford travel duty along with Welder repatriation to silica bovine for 335 welderry.

Fired straight up and has a hauf tank of fuel.

Good car:)

Also lets the GSA get a break

Time to drag this up from the pits..

It went into the garage when the MOT ran out in March 2019, and I had not seen it again until today:

Henlo fren..

The battery was reconnected, and it fires up first turn of the key :)

I'm now trying to work out whether to sell it, or get it back on the road..
