Yes I saw that already. Still, three owners doesn’t make a shits worth of difference to me. Wasting a few hours does tho.

Yeah agree. I get a bad feeling for some reason about this though..

EBay name being Eddie Gerrard, have you done some stalking? See if he’s got a Facebook etc? Due dil is always worth doing

Not me, crack on then

I never once suggested you buy it!

Just a thought, what if you spent £2500 on repairs for the Sierra, that would make a good family car ?

Not really.  It's not used as a family car either.  Modern car for that, the rest on the 'heritage fleet' are just for fun really.

It’s a lot of money for a car that hasn’t been MOTed since 2017

Not knocking it but are these really that desirable?

With a ticket - I'm certain it'd fetch £2995 straight away.  Yes, they are getting quite a cult following and the five door ones aren't rare but are certainly unusual.

Far too expensive. You're daft if you do. Seriously.

It's only a Rav4.

£2500 is a generous budget and could get you a far better family car than that.

It's not really about getting a family car.  I've got a 12 month old Nissan for that sort of shebang.  I want something that will just go anywhere, every time.  Something I can fit a bike or two in the back of easily, do tip runs, go to the beach, etc blah.

I'll buy blind with the best of 'em... But that just seems too much for needing a ticket etc.... 5yrs off the road

The fact it's sold twice already and they've obviously walked away would have me binning it from my watch list tbh

And this is the thing.  The thing that DOES bother me.  Although how many failed sales have I had on eBay for no good reason?  Loads.  Loads and loads.

If it was nearby, I'd go and properly crawl under it myself.  My friend runs a Toyota specialist, knows these inside out and between us we got my Avensis (same engine) to 272k not out.

I get that everyone's cynical, but sometimes there are good cars out there that people just don't pursue.  But I've not the time to go poking really, not at the moment.

Seems a bit more genuine

That looks rotten around the edges. Remember @St.Judes escapades with one?

What about the next gen Rav? I keep idly looking at the three doors but ideally fancy the earlier 1.8 vvti lump - same as my MR2 and your old Avensis I guess. Most survivors seem to be the later, higher tax bracket 2 litre lump unfortunately though.

Thanks @Dick Longbridge for that trip down PTSD past.

That doesn’t look as bad as mine, but you can see the sills being a little frilly on the rear arch side so it isn’t far away from needing welding.

Plus I think the money is incredibly strong for that.

If this Rav is being sold by a breakers yard of some sort, could they stick it on a ramp and take some pictures for you?

I'm sure they'd let you look underneath it, just give them a second and let them fire up the forklift...

I'd go along in person and crawl under one end and out the other and if it is good then I'd start talking price. It wouldn't be my £2.5k but each to their own

@Gruber has just put his back up..... Cambridge.

Any interest?

Thanks for the mention.

Yep - my Rav4 is for sale...  in a half-hearted sort of way.  I really like it but just don't need it.

Mine's the next generation one - 2006, 5-door with the the super-reliable 2.2 chain-driven diesel engine.  Previously owned by @garethjof these parts.

Took Boyo's Yaris for a test earlier on.  At 21 years old, it's in rotty territory for an old Toyota - but another very pleasing day at the Test Centre.

Next is a trip to the bodyshop to get the rear bumper sprayed up and the rest of it tidied.

Happy Days.
