? (they don't do a praying hands emojji yet)

FTFY :)

if you type : then start typing out the word or thing you want an emoji for the forum software will bring up a list matching the word/letters your typing :)

(although amusingly while the forum software calls it pray, officially its also a high five emoji LOL this one on the right being an actual unicode character rather then an inserted image like the one above ?

He can get bronze only.

when you say bronze is that like a  bronze tint or does it refer to some other property of the screen?

I dont think I have seen a bronze rear window before, at least not knowingly! so im curious if anyone has an example they could post

but where im really going with all of this, if it is a tint or covering, I wonder if it can be removed in someway to make your own clear glass? :)

Fuck it scrap it. ?

No seriously fitting another screen isn’t a bad job on those. Not bonded I think. Worst bit of it is getting the screen despatched to you in one piece.

You could get the ebay tailgate and take the window out.

Not that any of this is possible at the moment, but plans can be made for then they are possible.  Great car, good luck.

The one I posted is out of an XR4i, so will be bronze!

Reminds me of when some student scrote did the rear window in on a Sierra Ghia that was used as a training car at my college years ago. Could have almost cried as I was rather attached to the old girl and to see it like that was pretty heartbreaking. They had to replace the whole tailgate because it was a bonded unit. I tried to even get the old tailgate home as they said I could take it but there was really sod all I could do with it. I did take the badges off it though!

Here she is with her ‘new’ tailgate.

The guy 10 miles away has a NOS rear screen for a sapphire. Arse.

I’ve left the car in the garage and will untax from the end of the month. No point paying out for something that I can’t use and shouldn’t use even if I could use.

Fuck it.

Don’t give up on her buddy. She’s still a beautiful machine, smashed window or not.

Alright Shiters?

Positive news.  Through a mate of mine we've managed to find a brand new Ford Sierra rear screen, NOS, still in the packaging.  Stranger still it's in my hometown of Ipswich.  Stranger yet the bloke who knows of it lives in the next village to me (100 miles from Ipswich).  Stranger still he's a friend of a friend, although we've never met.  He's going to fetch it at the end of LOCKDOWN™ for no extra cost. £120 seems fair for brand new glass.  My friend is going to fit it in return for a pub meal and a hand job.

Next question - the Nissan rear bumper.

I've had a genuine Ford item languishing on my shingle driveway for approximately one year now.  What bolts do I need to source in order to fit the thing?  There don't seem to be any clues and, from what I can gather, the Nissan one is screwed on with self tappers. (!)

PFA from chillier, more glazed days.

Few other updates.  I found (finally) what I believe is the only existing photograph of my first Volvo 300 - a 360GLT.  D899 CBJ.  I sold this to a friend but, for the life of me, can't remember why.  I THINK I bought a Ford Mondeo (the Panther Black one in the opening post) because I was doing some serious miles and wanted something a bit more safe and sensible.  It might still be on his farm, but I reckon he's fragged it by now.

This was a great car.  A GREAT car.  Totally uncool but a proper old school slogger under the bonnet and all the street cred of Nigel Farage's shorts.

Happy Days.

(It's a weird aspect because I cut my ex girlfriend out of the photo!!.  Judging by the notice in the window I was trying to sell it by this point.  It was taken at Stowmarket Carnival, probably 2001 - when @Brodders, a stowmartian himself, would have been knee high to a grasshopper.)

Finally, I've informally agreed to buy another car. (Yes - I know - I've already had the lecture).  It's a 1995 example (although they started out in 86) and is ideal for a man, like me, with more children than eyes.  Hopefully we can pull it off.

SO it's probably time the Corolla found a new home.  It's been completely and utterly faultless since the start of the year which is no surprise because it's A) A Toyota Corolla of 90s vintage 2) It was owned by a Toyota specialist garage for years before me and D) It's done 71k.

Regular readers of "Memoirs" will know this was my wife's Christmas present.  However, the sun is now shining and we just don't need another 5 seater.  If she needs the Avensis then I can always use another member of the fleet.

If anyone's interested then drop me a PM.  It won't be raffled, it won't be a stupid £84 and a king size Mars Bar - but it will last you forever.  MOT until December.

Wife can be included if interested.  Condition: Previously enjoyed.

Im betting on an Espace as the new arrival

Yes I also assumed Espace but it could be a late R21 with seven seats.

If it is I will be well jel.  Makes more sense though - the Espace came in in '84 and was already well into the Mk2 by '95.  The 21 Savanna stayed much the same all the way through bar a facelift in about '91.

Bog standard m8 thread iirc

I had to read that twice, the first time I thought "he's taking the piss" Bog standard thread  M8.......

i remember when these Sierra's were first launched, the shape against the long running Mk4 and MK5 Cortina, of which there were millions on the road, took a bit of getting used to.   The first Sierra I saw in the flesh, up Close was a Dark Green Povvo Spec Version, I think that set my 'likemometer' at a pretty low level and I never really warmed to them.  Time moves on and I prefer then Sierra to the later MK1 Mondeo.

it is great you are preserving this model, they must be a rare car now

Harrumph.

Spent 30 minutes on my back rubbing rust into my eye sockets, evaluating just how badly Minis rust.

There are a few things that now need attention. Or, as I should say, would need attention if my MOT wasn’t just about to be extended.

I’m too ashamed to put all of the pics up, but here’s a timely reminder that it needs to visit the metal tickler soon.

Inner and outer sills (both sides) cost under £100 from MiniSpares. I suppose a day or two of welding and it’ll all be back together, or is that too optimistic?
