I'm that pissed off on your behalf, I'be just spent 10 mins walking up and down the road on google maps to find the address.

Its number 4, the one with the Honda hormone replacement vehicle on the drive.

https://www.google.co.uk/maps/@52.364392,-1.2521409,3a,62.9y,253.15h,77.9t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1sNWLSmG5e9Uaco8XjSBc41g!2e0!7i13312!8i6656!6m1!1e1?hl=en

Bus stop and fence outside, but if you go back to previous years 2009, the escort is actually on the drive alongside a pineappled camper van

Now not sure what we can do with this info, and as not one to start pitchfork waving.....

I'd also be interested to know if the new owner who has paid more has realised that the speedo has been stuck on that mileage for the past three years......

Cunts. I don't know what else to say but i know how excited you was about it.

I know it's a bit of a bit of a cliche but I'm sure these things happen for a reason, you'll probably find something even better in a few weeks time for less, well i like to think so anyway. Make sure you neg the bastard though.

C*nts Trick.

Dream scenario would be the buyer drops out and they contact you begging.

At that point you can either lower your offer or tell them to jog on.

The financial loss is a bastard but there is always something else to buy another day.

What a bell end. I rarely trust folk and usually they are true to their word so I end up rushing round arranging insurance and shit last minute while I'm there. I couldn't afford that outlay to lose. What buying platform did you use? Any form of verbal contract for recompense or am I talking shite?

All made in writing with clear price and terms.

However, I've too much pride to go "Judge Rinder" on someone over a shit Ford. I'm still absolutely gutted, and now broke, but it's nothing a magistrate will cure.

Sorry to hear this.

On the plus side:

1) you don't have to deal with someone that breaks his word

2) having set aside funds and sorted storage it'd be madness not to go and buy something else

I'm already at least £350 down (obviously I can cancel the insurance and just lose the admin fee) so it's unlikely to happen.

People are very unkind sometimes. I know they might sound pathetic and naive, but the thought never crossed my mind that this could happen.

I'm obviously a mug.

I'm obviously a decent person.

Fixed that for you. It's a shitty thing to do. As the buyer, if you backed out then you'd lose your deposit. With regard to a seller backing out I'm not sure what you can do.

You say you have the deal in writing, perhaps press him a little with this in mind?

That's gutting. A lot of the time we depend on someone's word being enough to rely on. Sadly the few who are not trust worthy stick in the mind long after all those straight people are forgotten. Forget about it and move on.

I recommend beer and e bay, and a purchase on the rebound.

Your not a mug!

It's awful that you've lost some of your money but there's not a lot you can do now. Just try to put it behind you, and move on. Something better will come up.

Christ almighty, there is some proper internet vitriol here. Its not like the seller voted for/against Brexit or owt, calm down chaps. Okay, BI has a right to be a bit cheesed off but it sounds like the seller probably had a buyer offering them much more money there and then, which they took.

Its a shame but I bet the buyer was saying it was a one time offer to stop the seller trying to get a better offer from BB. I know I would if it was a car I was after. The seller might feel guilty but several hundred extra pounds will probably ease the pain a bit.

Bad luck though.

The car was no longer for sale though so who bought it?

Maybe its down to too many episodes of Bergerac and Hetty Wainthrop but banging the deal up on a public forum might not be a good idea, effectively you told us what you paid and how much work the car had done plus the new MOT and same family owned from new, someone could have read all that and jumped in, I think there was a link for the original ad somewhere too?

Im gutted this has happened for you Borny but I'd refrain from giving all the deets on something like a bargain MK3 Escort in a rare colour until the keys are in your hands.

I am now hoping this new buyer pulls out, like everyone else on here.

Just like to add this is bad on the part of the seller and not you in the slightest, I just thought the above as soon as I had seen someone else move in, i could be and probably am wrong.

I have mentioned this before in relation to another buyer, but was shouted down by "we don't do that on here"

It's a big world the internet.

Small consolation, train tickets are refundable.

I have done it (although a lot time ago).

It's a faff though, you have to get a form from the booking office and fill in the plausible reason why you aren't travelling.

I thought it was just a £10 admin fee?

Not if they are advance tickets (what else would you buy in advance?) split tickets  dot com rip you off for the entire cost. As I found out with last weekends collection caper.

I have a collection Friday, 150 miles each way

Good luck, dude.  Rooting for you!

Thanks  Sadly I'm a spineless doormat, so would probably end up sending them a Christmas card.

Genuinely, I had to bribe my good lady to get this far.  Now we're down on money, I can't see another one arriving any time soon.

That seller sounds like a cunt.

May I suggest the AS way, Argos catalogues in the post at random times for the next few years.

I did think about placing an advert on Car and Classic for a slightly cheap MK2 Ford Capri with their number on it.  I spoke to a guy who had this happen to him last year, he was getting about 15 calls a day.  But, what's the point eh?

I thought if you got gazumped on a deal, you could buy one similar to the one you lost out on, and sue them for any extra you had to pay.

Perhaps I've made it up in my head though.

No, you're correct.  It's called "Loss of Bargain".  Again, what's the bloody point of it all?  It's probably more valuable that I learn a lesson here.

BI has a right to be a bit cheesed off but it sounds like the seller probably had a buyer offering them much more money there and then, which they took.

I just think they shook on more money than we did.

I hope the buyer is here, and they get many years of enjoyment from it.  You're right, it's entirely my fault.  I didn't collect the car quicker (I'm working from 5am until 7pm atm with a 155 mile commute) and I didn't give them their asking price.  If you offer a dog a bone, it will take it.  99% of fault here lies with me, which is why no strongly worded letter or fist banging will ensue.

It's a big world the internet.

Lesson learned.

I'm out of pocket on it, no other way to look at it.  People say it's all for a good reason.  Perhaps it's just my greed or something.  Perhaps it's just bad luck.  What I do know is I'm a days pay down plus about £100.  But that's life.

Thanks for your advice and stuff.

At a bit of a loose end this afternoon, owing to an Escort sized gap in my life. So took the bASe to the garage for a month or so. It's not particularly useable 'sans heater' so it can hang out down there for a bit.

It has cemented my viewpoint that I'd still definitely smoke something like this if I was a millionaire landbaron.

I mean. Just look at it. It oozes "Old Money"

Amusingly, I had a bit of a disagreement with the old boy who lives there. We agreed £10 per week. He now wants £50 pcm. It's not a deal breaker, but it's a reminder of how you stay wealthy. £2million pounds worth of house, arguing over £80.

Every pound's a prisoner eh?

Just fits with the rear bumper an inch from the wall.

That's all a bit shit. What a wanker hopefull y karma will strike back at some point .

I was thinking about manors and stuff like this earlier. Does no one give a shit about anyone but them self anymore ?

Most of the emails I've had about the Cadillac I'm selling just say a number . 900.

Fuck off is it too much to ask to construct it into basic sentence? I just don't answer.
