I have just popped for a replacement turn/wiper cluster, so I can lash up a fix for my dodgy 'right turn' signal stalk.... which is getting to sound like static on an old valve radio! Grrr

I know, Toyotas of this vintage are all the car you'll ever need.

You checked out the Renault rims... ?

Yeah, pretty much what I would have done. Will bear in mind, although I have my heart set on slot mags.

.... that's my buzzy winker sorted then ....

I don't call mine that, but I know what you mean. *wink*

Posted

... Ha! 'busy winker' m8 (driving a fanny magnet Carina II)..

Posted

Your winker isn't operating properly?

Posted

I think he found some videos on the internet and now it's functioning as intended

When my £15 eBay 'winker of WIN' shows up.... I now know what to swap over from MR2 part into Carina II part :)

Popped for a 19mm socket, not sure I have one lost/hidden somewhere....

Saves disappointment @£1.99

* I do own a double socket & long extending lever bar, for wheel nuts, and that is 19MM... But I think the steeringwheel nut is deep in a recess and this might not go in :/

Jeezze!! A few days away and come home to trip over wing-nuts and sockets [on the door mat] and neighbours hailing you in the street, proffering large boxes.. containing dashboard accutrements! :)

Winkers Sorted **Winnah** ;)

..... the bit of tinplated brass that slides across the pips was 'worn bright' = should have a matte tinning finish :(

The piece from eBay, my MR2 switch is mint... So just swapped over and I 'lightly scuffed' the surface of the pips with the edge of my jewellers screwdriver. Re-smeared everything with the excess/clean grease from under the cover and clipped everything back in place.

.... sharpie pen mark to keep wheel back in correct spot!

The nut was finger tight - likely years of folks heaving out.. Fitters arm crank retighten! NaaPraablem :)

*battery disconnected, clock kept time!! WootWoot!!

Having the winkers operating properly is a satisfying experience. Tactile, not floppy. :)

I have now modified the Vac Gauge to suit connection to my Inlet, using std 4mm pipe.

I forced a steel nipple into the main body with a piece of old Morris 1000 dizzy rubber elbow (never throw anything away!)

Here is the new 4mm red silicone pipe I will re-do my carb and dizzy with (nice tight fit onto the gauge) :)

New dizz cap + leads & rotor.

Red spaghetti (and I haven't got to the ones under the carb yet!)

Timing check and carb clean up/tune still to do :/

I found this chart online - very interesting re: Ported vs Manifold Vacuum, as seen by your vac advance canister.

https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/proxy.php?image=http%3A%2F%2Fuploads.tapatalk-cdn.com%2F20160518%2Ff03808e36cde7de42e7cd8a35b061b43.jpg&hash=6b1ce6117a5533d52b00f01ad07e8666

It makes no difference, except there is no vac present at idle [on a 'ported' connection].

Just looking at whether this is an option when doing Carb Upgrades ;)

So then..... The Car.....

Where are we? Well, nowhere in particular.

Three years of Nilpoit on the FTP scale.

Rash of tyre plugging, leaving me with 'three strikes' on one tyre...

All of £20 spent recently, on Vac pipe and Winkers...

Plans <motivation ebb> ??

I have my reversing camera/ashtray [LCD] delete to complete

I have a 'plip locking' box to wire in

I have a 'hi line' LED brake light to stick on

I need to get out of the way of my own arse :/

.... sunny dayz are kumminn - oh yeah :)

YaY..... Rust converter arrived today!

I was wondering if I might stretch my tub a little, as my purchase is 500g.

"FerPrime Black can be thinned down with water if required, to enable its use in spray equipment. The amount of water that should be added will depend on the type of spray equipment being used."

Well.... That makes me feel SO much better :)

*a 20% dilution, on my first application [decanted into a narrow neck container] will give me some confidence.
