Will have to see how things go.  Haven't even got the car yet!  Whatever happens it will be done carefully...last thing I want to do is break the thing.  Seeing how a car whose speciality is changing direction rapidly handles a technical circuit like Knockhill though definitely seems a worthy thing to investigate though.

TrackScotland have confirmed their dates for next year :

 

Saturday 3rd March 1-5pm - Normal

 

Thursday 26th April, 6-8pm

 

Thursday 31st May, 6-8pm

 

Saturday 4th August, 6-8pm

 

Friday 28th September, 4-6pm

 

Final date (Oct/Nov) TBC

 

I shall be attending as many as possible.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Or how about a full day at Teeside in march ?

currently an mx5 day but last time I did one of these, they let a few non mazdas in to make up the numbers. It's a smashing little track, a good twisty section and a long straight with a sweeping bend at the end for sideways naughtiness (although I did cock it up and hit the tyre wall once)

We discussed this and when Dome did some research the consensus is that the track is pretty rubbish. Got rocks all over it so likely to get marks on bodywork etc.

 

Teeside looks good -if they open it up to more than mx5s let us know. I should be up for it.

 

Or I could buy a mx5 ..

For what it's worth, a former neighbour used to use the track to set up his stock car. In his opinion then, he wouldn't take a car on it that he didn't mind taking a beating anyway. I've heard nothing since to contradict that.

I'm very tempted, what do I need to do?

At the moment it is only me booked in so can have another 2 drivers.

 

I reckon with fuel and entry it comes to about £70 for the afternoon

 

All you need to do is say you want to come. Blag/borrow/steal/hire a helmet.

 

Got a few others interested but nothing confirmed.

I'll only be back from a holiday on the west coast of the USA on the 1st of March, so who knows how I'll be feeling at that point! It also depends on how the BMW does regarding MOT.

Err, no. Didn't realise there was an offer on and suchlike.

 

I may just come along for the banter anyway, depending on how I feel. If I do that, it also means I don't need to get up super early.

We have booked a trackscotland day this time rather than knockhill as was cheaper and tends to be less idiots on track.

 

I would imagine there is ample opportunity to have some drives

Well, I've learned from all of the two times I've driven around Knockhill to avoid Civic Type Rs.

 

When I drove Mason the LS400 round, one of them decided to overtake me on the left as I entered Duffus Dip, then dived across in front of me. Tickman was in the passenger seat and could probably have reached out the window and touched the side of their car! All I could think was "Well, the Civic will come off worse than me anyway..."

 

Said Civic Type R was flagged down in the pits afterwards and got a right bollocking from a marshal. :D

I think it was a civic type r that ended up on its side in the gravel last time, no injuries but the car was a mess.
