Time for me to put my bit in...

This is but a summary. The full Flickr gallery has the full story as well as a veritable slideshow of Eddy Ramrod being pushed in to the concourse arena.

Rapunzel camping it up in a small French hatchback is much LOLZ. Bloke on the PA clearly sounds like an asshat, perhaps at next year's event, shiters could hijack it, and have expert commentary from Billy Cavcraft and his sidekick the LBD

Yep - they're electric.

It's an urban (internet) myth that the toothed belt that is used to lose the doors is actually an M20 timing belt. It isn't.

I presume people checking the applications for the M20 timing belt see "Z1" in the list and jump to the conclusion that it's for the doors. Ignoring the blatantly obvious M20 engine under the bonnet.

Glad you snapped the 'Autoshite' P6 (the faded red one of many P6s). Saw it on the way in but by the time I actually managed to venture over to it, it was there no longer.

The CMS camper sequence is particularly enjoyable.

Sorry, I did leave in good time. I'm a teacher and it was first day back today. I had lots of stuff to do in prep. Yes, I know I've just had six weeks off before anyone says anything! If it makes things any better, I spent the whole six weeks doing car stuff and repairing my garage. Nice to chat to junkman and almondp6/brownaustinallegosorryvandenplas1500man again. I don't know your forum name. A jolly good show though.

The awful commentary created lots of laughs... wouldn't have been quite the same without him!!

I believe that Crown wagon belongs to an occasional poster on here, or someone he knows. A few cars down from it was a blue Corolla estate that brownnova and I both seemed to remember there being a post about. He has a Celica Sunchaser IIRC?

As you say, "an occasional poster". I've had a lot of other things going on this year but still try to keep up to date with things. Mine is the blue Corolla estate, out of 7 Toyotas it is the only roadworthy car I've got at the moment. :-(

It belonged to an old geezer last year, I hope he hasn't carked it. The occasional poster you're thinking of will be ifc63, who seemed to be kind of in charge of the Toyota stand last year. They were a great bunch of lads, much better than the mardy Vauxhall lot that couldn't bear to be beside us.

Peter Hunter owns the Crown estate as well as a 1967 Crown MS55, a 1973 Crown Custom Coupe and a couple more old Toyotas stashed away somewhere. Also, there's nobody 'in charge' of the Toyota stand, we just turn up and muddle along.

Ian (ifc63) used to bring an old guy in a Corolla I think. I think he's the spares specialist for the Toyota Enthusiasts Club, and he is indeed, a really great fella.

I've done two shows this year - the early Tatton show where I took Colin in his 1978 Celica Liftback and this Cholmondeley. Colin didn't want to go to this as he's really gone off his legs recently (he's 91 next month !)

It is still in the hands of old Sid'n'Doris. I recognised them today from a good chin-wag I had a couple years back. They were just clambering aboard to leave as I left.

Sid'n'Doris ! I'll call them that next time (It's actually Peter and Audrey but your version fits just as well ) :-)

Yeah, you're right.

Ghosty, if I recall you were stalking me that year as you'd also snapped me in the red Sunchaser at Buxton or somewhere. :-D

On a side note, I've been with the Toyota Enthusiasts Club for nearly 11 years now and I have noticed a definite shift to the interest and attention paid to our cars at shows over that time. Up until about 5 or 6 years ago we were very much in the same situation a lot of AS drivers are probably experiencing now at car events. We were shunned, overlooked and generally made to feel unwelcome if we parked our 'Jap Crap' next to some old boy who'd opened his cheque book and bought a shed load of parts from a supplier to restore his 'classic'. I say restore, but it should be renew as most of the cars of MGB/Stag/E-type brigade then must only have comprised about 30% of their original parts. Try telling them you're keeping a 30-year car on the road where parts back-up especially for body items dried up when the car was about 8 years old :-o Maybe we were pioneers of the Autoshite movement and that's why our members readily accept old cars of any description parked next to ours. We're all driven by the same thing, keeping an old banger on the road and enjoying it :-D

Here was our rather small show offering this year at Cholmondeley.2016-09-04%2016.17.44_zpspjk9rsav.jpg2016-09-04%2016.17.53_zpspiyimssz.jpg2016-09-04%2016.18.00_zps0upifu7w.jpg2016-09-04%2016.18.08_zps54eq1qde.jpg2016-09-04%2016.18.18_zpst2u2swdh.jpg

Think I followed you most of the way from Chester to Chumley... Was hoping you were going to the show as I couldn't remember where the entrance was 😂

There was another very similar Corolla estate going the other way in one if the villages too!

You were indeed ! I think I only noticed the Eunos behind me when we got stuck behind that white van on the back road into Cholmondeley. I'd put my hand up to the driver of the other Corolla when I saw it but he probably thought I was just some sort of nutter. I drive Crewe to Chester everyday for work and haven't seen it around before. There is a red (going on pink) estate of the same style knocking around the area I see on occasions, he doesn't wave either :-(

I'm sorry that although booked, I decided to stay on in Croatia and Austria for another week, getting home this afternoon.. Even sadder was the fact my phone went bang losing all the photos of prime AS vehicles on my trip through all the countries that were once Yugoslavia. Surprising how many Mk II Golf's (both VW and TAS built) survive over there.

Here's to actually coming along next year!
