1981 Citroen Visa Club - 652cc of raw power - £1500 - Sussex

Right, a couple of people have expressed an interest in this little car so I thought I'd offer it up here before it hits ebay.

This is a 1981 Citroen Visa Club with the air-cooled, 652cc twin-cylinder engine. It's one of only seven 652cc 'Pignose' Club models known in the UK, and one of only four UK-market rhd cars left.

For a 1981 Citroen it's in remarkable condition. The interior about as close to new as you can get. There are original accessory carpet mats to cover the rubber flooring, which is mint. There have been six previous owners and for the last 15 years or so it has been in the hands of Citroen enthusiasts. It looks to have had very gentle use over the first few years of its life and has been cosseted since then. There is a stamped service book (up to about 40,000miles I think) and the car is just about to roll over 51,000 which I'm sure is genuine. There is also a bit of service/MoT history from the last 15 years.

There has obviously been quite a lot of welding done in the past but it all looks to have been done to a really high standard. Inner wings look original, as does most of the paint (below the coachline it has been sprayed but it's a very good match and unless you are looking for it, you wouldn't notice). There are a couple of little blebs here and there, the worst bits are the rear arches, which have been repaired in the past and are now bubbling up again. I've felt around behind them and I reckon it is just filler lifting rather than actual rot. Overall, while it's not perfect, it's about as good as an unrestored 36-year old Visa is ever gonna be.

Mechanically it seems absolutely bob-on. It starts willingly and pulls well, although there is a little white smoke. It buzzes along happily in town and can easily keep up with modern traffic. 70mph on the motorway is easily achieved, providing the terrain is level... I reckon it will need a clutch at some juncture as it is a bit juddery when moving away, but absolutely fine in normal use, and it doesn't slip

The fuel gauge doesn't work, nor do the screen washers, the speedo is a bit intermittent and the front passenger window has come off its runner and doesn't go down. Other than that it's pretty much all good. I reckon this is the nicest car I've ever had (condition wise) and if I didn't have a load of looming bills and another project car on the horizon I would definitely be holding on to it.

It's MoT'd (only until July I think, but other than the washers I can't see anything stopping it getting a clean ticket then) and taxed to get you home. Also it's ORANGE.

I want £1500 for it and I think it's worth every penny so I'm gonna be quite firm on price I think. Car is in Brighton or Horsham.

Looks like this has sold already!

I was just thinking to myself, as nice as this is it will probably need a bit of time to sell as you will need to find someone that a) wants a Visa and B) has a wad of cash...but it looks like I don't know what I am talking about once again.
