My 1973 Cadillac, Huggy Bear

What can I say Eddy, The Grange over Sands classic car show will have a huge gap in it this year,

In other news I've tried to sell various non absolutely essential internal organs to several dubious "No questions asked" Liver and Kidney specialists but have fallen far short of £6000 for anything I could realistically do without; in fact the only response I got was from Kite-Kat and they thought my liver might be "of dubious quality" so that's that.

Seriously though good luck with the sale, it can't have been an easy decision to make but sometimes its best to let A N Other enjoy the experience of a treasured motor;

Thanks once again for letting me sit in Huggy and for a few minutes of a late summer's afternoon pretend to be Frank Cannon.

Cheers

Jon

It might not!  There's no saying I'll have made a sale by then, and I'm at a stage now where I should be booking-in for the shows I want to attend.  Anyway, whatever I go with, you'll be welcome to have a sit...

If you're after another, I've just seen this slightly more modern one for sale. Owned by an old lady too by the looks of it.

Seller seems nice. Possibly works in law enforcement.

Oh dear I seemed to of have made the *mistake of showing this to a close friend, who lives in KY and is now thinking about it...

said friend is a, full on open carrier, Gun loving 6ft 2 inch tall white, slightly wide, beige barge loving American... so he would be the sellers perfect buyer and the cars perfect new owner

Will I sustain Eddy's ongoing "I need another yank in my life" whining once it's sold?

But what though? I'd love a Yank, but the ones I want I can't really afford, or house.

1960 Cadillac Coupe. Don't care what model, a Series 62 bAsE model is fine.

1949 Cadillac Coupe, the Club Coupe/Sedanette, first year with OHV V8.

1962 Lincoln Continental sedan, but a 1963 will suffice. No convertibles.

1959 Chevrolet Coupe (Impala, BelAir etc)

1971 or 72 Ford Galaxie/LTD or Custom 500 4 door. Still cheap but very rare.

1967/8 Cadillac Eldorado.

And a sixties Ford Econoline of any description. Fuck your Transits.

I have now been given my orders in no uncertain terms!  "That thing" has got to go, there is no way MrsR will trust it again and tbh I won't be wanting to take on any more important trips.

Saying that:  if I'd remembered to pack the car's paperwork I could have got Breakdown Assistance much earlier in the week and it wouldn't have been a problem.  So the moral is, always have your paperwork to hand!

In the next week or so the alternator WILL be removed and fixed, and I will be buying a suitable battery charger.  It's worthless as-is so I might as well get it running again.  Of course then I'll have to spend money on the brakes which were just beginning to sound and feel rubbish.

My ad still hasn't appeared in CCB.  However... last night I was having a chat on Facebook with a bloke from Kendal (he says) who had put up a "wanted" for an American car.  So obviously I offered him Huggy.  He's supposedly coming to see it today.  He spent a lot of time trying to chip the price, which bothers me.

What really bothers me is, he knows where I live now.  Is he one of those less-than-scrupulous banger chaps that'll just come and hoist it away?  Time will tell...

You're probably right.  It's quite likely I'm just getting paranoid, but you do hear tales of big old cars being spirited away, don't you?  Mine's in the alley behind the house, it wouldn't be that hard to Hiab away.  Fortunately we sleep in the back bedroom...
