Oh yay! and this one does not have the the Model stuck in with with the manufacturers name :) HH is a Carlisle registration btw if your curious

I noticed it shows up as VELOSOLEX UNKNOWN on the MOT checker too, which makes me wonder/curious if VELOSOLEX is actually one the DVLA has a make code for and so selected by the DVLA clerk via a drop down menu rather then manually entered, do you know of another thats been on the system for more then a month so I can check it out via carbaba? :) I suspect when you register a vehicle the DVLA has a code for there is less chance of cock ups (although it can still happen see REV731!)

there is defo a make code for VELOSOLEX on the DVLA thats for sure (the old version of the DVLA checker worked via these make codes, so you can use an archived copy to check what makes the DVLA had/has codes for :)

(I noticed that if a vehicle is registered with a make the DVLA has no code for, it just shows up as the make in the MOT checker with nothing for Model info, but if it is one the DVLA has a code for then it will show the make as well as "UNKNOWN" for Model info, for example a example XPD805 just shows up as STANLEY as the DVLA have no make code for STANLEY, but an Invacar which the DVLA has a make code for like REV451R shows up as INVACAR UNKNOWN)

The reg on this one looks familiar!

Funny that it shows as unknown... that was why DVLA kicked it back the first time. I had put the model as 2200, but that wasn't shown on the NOVA declaration. So I had to call HMRC, and then confirm that I wanted model details added to their record, which they did. And after all that it appears DVLA have left it blank anyway! Not massively important, but irritating all the same 🙄

ah cool yeah as I thought VELOSOLEX has a make code on the DVLA

interesting that the Model info got chopped off, how did you fill out the V55 this time in comparison to the Tula? (with regards to make manufacture model etc)

I wonder if it got lopped off because of differences in how the form was filled out, or because of the fact the DVLA had a "preset" option for VELOSEX, where as with the Tula they would have had to enter that information manually

(note the Model code on the right, maybe the DVLA dont have any Model codes for the VELOSOLEX Make code? but I dont know if those 2 are tied together or if one can be pre-selected while the other manually entered, as always more research is needed!)

(like I dont know if they select the VELOSOLEX make code if they can then enter anything for Model or if they select a make code they have to select some form of Model code?)

@LightBulbFun - the V5c came today. After all the arguing about the model designation - 2200 - being omitted from the NOVA record, and me having to contact HMRC to get it added, they've left it off 🤣

Yeah I thought so seeing as it was on the DVLA records online!

on a similar note going back to the Tula on its V5c is "TULA 200M" all on one line like it is on the DVLA vehicle checker or is it properly separated out in the V5c?

  • strangeangel changed the title to Strangeangel's Citroënic Shenanigans (featuring the Autoshite BX, Ami Break and some bikes) 8/12 BX FOR SALE :(
  • strangeangel changed the title to Strangeangel's Shite-tastic Shenanigans 11/12 Bye Bye BX, incoming replacement is incoming!

So... in the worst-kept secret ever, @The Moog is coming to get the BX on Sunday, he's going to fix the clutch and - much to my great joy - the old thing will cheat the scrap man once again. Long may it continue to do so. Meanwhile there are PREPARATIONZ afoot:

Thanks to @djimbob for logistics, and nice to meet @dieselnutjob and Ben. I probably won't post much about this because it's practically brand new, but it was a great drive back, and I'm very much looking forward to using it to cart home loads of eBay mopeds and scooters :D

Welcome to the VAN GANG, top buyage, as I posted on the sale thread those things go for strong money at any age/condition so it was a bargain.

I can't believe how well it drives; it certainly doesn't feel like something that's twice round the clock. I wasn't sure how I'd feel about the auto box, but I really like it. The only problem so far is a diesel leak from the filler neck - someone's had a go at bodging it in the past but it hasn't worked. Not worried about this though, as 2nd hand tanks aren't expensive and replacing it isn't a big job, apparently. Mrs_SA even likes it!

Only when I came to lift away the remains of the foam and covers did I see this:

What you're looking at there is the bench seat's centre upright, which has snapped off and been snot welded back together at some point. The bit of stainless tubing is an unsuccessful attempt at coring the upright.

Just logged in to see if/how the old Ami was going. I’ll have to hold my hand up for this one. Couldn’t work out what the clicking noise was on the seat and I remember finding this when I took the seat apart. Another Hairy Dave bodge which I was tiring of finding by that point. I bodged some more weld on and hoped it would go away when I put the seat cover back on.

Dunno how often SA gets on nowadays but I reckon he's deffo still got the Ami as he drove it successfully to my house not too long ago.

The seats were still a work in progress, I think he was still in need of some sort of straps/webbing to make up the bases having been told by a specialist that 2CV ones definitely* fit, which they didn't.

The setup when I saw it involved sofa cushions, sheets and maybe even gaffa tape, otherwise I think the old girl is in good fettle.
