Nice good to see a standard disco 1 still running. Mine can just reach 70 with ear defenders!

I'm guessing they're slightly lower geared with less sound-proofing? Identical underneath, minus 9" otherwise I think!

Yes defenders have identical low range ratios but a lower high range.

Sound proofing is next on my list

Tested out 2nd row leg room today, not sure what everyone complains about?

Following this; time to get the sound deadening in, all straight forward just measure twice cut once on the seat box. Only taken it up to 30mph so far but seems to have made a reasonable difference, seemed far to quiet on first startup. Slightly longer run tomorrow, I'll see if I still feel like I need to wear ear defenders.

And the interior looks so much smarter, but so much to tidy up still.

All fluids topped up, cooling system investigated,  water pump works, radflowing smoothly and I think the viscous fan is working. Thermostat opens in a pan of boiling water but not sure its opening at 89°C, so I've jacked it open to see if the cooling improves.

Also new dampers fitted that I've had kicking around for a couple of years.20250816_145020.jpg.c45294b6d807f4c6e7547ae481824250.jpg20250816_145046.jpg.dd3bc41dd2624a6176c302ef91cfdc43.jpg

Glad to see it's not just me that buys parts, and then takes an age to actually fit them 🤣

Cheeky evening greenlane, new dampers have made an improvement,  still needs new springs though.

Td5 110 rear springs now fitted, ride seems a tad harsh.

Polyboot fitted to steering drop arm

Superpro A frame bushes and lemforder ball joint fitted

Now handbrake cable fitted

Rear brakes bled and adjusted

AND an MOT passed 1st time!

Other than that not much to report on the land ruster.

Great cars, easily and cheaply fixed. Plus the 110 is at least useful.

Good to see it's still plodding along. We took the Disco on hol to the Moselle valley a couple of months ago:

and passed a loaded up 110 on the slog back up to Calais. I was holding about 70, and did wonder how their noise / comfort levels were 😉

Ahh didn't mention the 1000miles fault free holiday motoring to, in and around Shropshire!

There is a chance of 2000miles in France next year, but the astra may be given that task instead, tbc... maybe if I do the timing first...
