I used to watch this in the days before I got Sky and had to scour Freeview for any car related programmes.

 

My abiding memory is of how annoying Jason Dawe was, and his complete inability to pronounce the word "half" correctly.

 

It's not "haff", you annoying twunt.

 

Poor man's Mike Brewer - which I believe is how he got the job on Top Gear. Mike was offered it, said no as he thought he wasn't right for the show and Clarkson and Wilman's vision of what they wanted to do, and the gig was offered to Jason instead. From what I've read the discussions before Top Gear came back were where Mike Brewer and Edd China met.

 

As I say I've now got Sky though, and can watch Wheeler Dealers, Chasing Classic Cars, Fast and Loud, Bitchin Rides etc. They're not faultless programmes, but compared to Used Car Roadshow they're works of genius.

My Princess was on Used Car Roadshow back in 2005. They wanted me to talk about my car with Penny but after an hour I got bored waiting so went for a walk about. I rocked up just as they started filming so stood and watched instead. Penny was quite enthusiastic when chatting on camera but once they stopped rolling she fucked off and laid on the grass until called. She didn't want to be there at all. I'm sure I had a picture of her laying on the grass but can't find it.She was/is a pretty hot Milf.

 

That's not me looking geeky in the photo by the way. That was the editor of the Retro Rides magazine.

UCR's studio shots were filmed at YTV Kirkstall, and all the used cars came from the garage at Bramley town end. Had a budget of about 36p per show, and her eyebrows seemed to get higher every show!

I have a vague memory of that lot filming a segment at the Mallory Park Retro Rides gathering. Not that I was paying too much attention, because Slater's beige Metro was attracting all of my attentions.

Is that bloke next to the bored looking Mallory wearing a 'Men and Motors' baseball cap? From memory this was a satellite channel like Dave but with soft porn after about 10pm. I don't think it's been around for a long, long time.

Men and Motors alternated between cars and soft porn IIRC. I started to watch Bangers and Smash once and got distracted. There was a bit of explaining to do when SWMBO came home.

I'd forgotten about Granada Men & Motors. If you liked car documentaries created with low end consumer grade camcorders followed by softcore pornography created with low end consumer grade camcorders, there weren't many channels to beat it. Against all odds it turned out that the latter was more profitable than Sharp ViewCam footage of a Daihatsu Sirion driving about and they got a little carried away. That was until Sky threatened to move the channel to the Adult section of the EPG unless they dialled it back a bit. 

 

It was taken off the air in 2010 so that ITV could broadcast a tram falling off a viaduct in HD.
