dome
OK, with the wee car back home work could start. i ordered up the steering gaiters which of course took over a week to arrive. Meanwhile i pottered about doing a couple of other things. First up, the brakes. This runs twin master cylinders split into front and rear circuits and getting the balance right is a bit of a pain. When i got it the fronts did nothing. I adjusted it so it felt good, the MOT tester reported the rears did nothing! i had a bias adjustable bar to add to fit which will make setup easier. Strap in and I'll try and explain. This is the brake pedal. On the right is the pivot, on the left is where this bar sat with a threaded rod which attached to a master cylinder on either side. The rod. The problem with this setup was that the only way of adjusting it was to vary how deep each master cylinder rod was screwed into the alloy parts. Not ideal. I had purchased a bias adjuster which looks like this The brass part is mounted on a spherical bearing which allows the angle of the rod to change. However, the brass part was too big to fit inside the tube on my brake pedal. I stuck it in a box and forgot about it. Until last weekend! A selection of flap wheels were purchased and I set about enlarging the tube to allow the adjuster to fit. The light here allowed me to trial fit it and see where I needed to take more metal away. Eventually I got it to fit. Here it is back in the pedal box with a remote adjuster trial fitted. It was cheap to buy and who doesn't need a big shiny knob on their dash? I'll probably never adjust it once it's set up but at least it'll look cool. Fitted back into the car and adjusted up (a clutch fluid leak has stripped the paint off the floor, that'll get attended to shortly) Handily as its small with it up on axle stands i can put one hand on the brake pedal and one on a wheel to adjust it up. At the minute I've adjusted it so with gentle pressure the fronts are locked and the rears are just below the point of locking. The MOT tester can twiddle my knob to get the reading he wants to see on the rollers You can see the two pivot points are not in line, this is because the back brake (Right as viewed in the pic) has very little movement to engage compared to the front (left) The way the pivot has been adjusted (towards the right) means when you apply the brake the front moves in more than the rear. It's not perfect-with the brake set up like this it's adjusted almost all the way to the rear so i may need to rethink things a bit. The weather is shite up here just now so that can wait. The steering gaiters arrived on Monday so i've fitted them. MOT booked for next week so with a bit of a fettle over the weekend she should be good to go. dome
Oh and also the model(chinese knockoff lego) Locost had came over with a similar problem to the real thing This had to be fixed at the same time i was fixing it's big brother And with the Lego equivalent. Both models are supposed to be identical, i swapped the exhaust over on the blue one and made an accurate* representation of the redtop engine for it too mat_the_cat, LightBulbFun, Split_Pin and 7 others

Split_Pin
More grand progress, couldn't be a more different read than the S4 though! Those 2 Lego/Lepin models look identical, was the fit of the parts.on the blue one any less good than its Danish berethin?

dome
Bit more fettling today. Pedal box mounted back in and dash adjuster fitted. A quick test drive revealed tracking miles out and adjustment needed to the brakes-will see if the garage can do this when MOTing it. Other than that it's good to go! In fact... https://www.gumtree.com/p/other-cars/locost-7-kit-car-20-redtop-c20xe-like-caterham-westfield-track-car/1375540568 I don't see much point in advertising it on here but if any shiters are interested let me know Have some pics anyway. Scruffy Bodger
When I put a bias valve on my kit car years ago I set it up by driving the car on a loose surface, getting the fronts to lock and not the back. When I bought it it'd lock the rears before the front in an emergency stop situation causing a proper arse twitch, car and me. dome
dome
So this passed an MOT yesterday. Still needs the tracking sorted properly-one of the adjusters on the rack won't adjust so I need a new track rod. I'll get one ordered up. Brakes passed-I twiddled my knob and got the fronts locking on wet tarmac on the way to the test station. It's been advertised and naturally the idiots are coming out of the woodwork... spartacus, Scruffy Bodger, BlankFrank and 8 others 2 7 1

sdkrc
I reckon slightly different paint job, full rollcage and I'd be willing to rent it from you whilst leaving my £0.5k car as collateral. On a more serious note, I think you've underpriced it. All the other ones on at the same price have smaller engines, less love and fewer spares. dome

You could be right re the pricing. it's not perfect though and I'd rather get it sold than hold on for more money. Handily for the next owner I've never kept track on what I've spent on it. dome
Well, a deposit has been received for this and it goes this week. A young lad is buying it, he'd had a Tiger before with a 2.0 Pinto In his words after a quick passenger ride, with a big grin on his face "this is a totally different animal" I wasn't even pushing(too) hard ? If you've been on the News thread you'll see it's replacement(s) have been lined up, I'll keep them to my other thread Tickman, Saabnut and timolloyd
