the judge
I had 2 of these, both were "chalky" blue after some weather. K and an L,both minge spec.Made 500 quid on each within few days of having them in 90's. Top bombing, worth every penny
Cavcraft
I reckon you've absolutely nailed it buying this, it's an ace looking car for a proper bargain price. In fact, I'll stick my neck out and say these are the best looking Mondeos they ever made. sierraman
The base one from 1995 was the Aspen. You could get it only in 1.6 or the diesel. The speedo binnacle was different - no rev counter. Base in 1993 would have been the LX, afaik they didn't have a spec below this. Some European countries even got non colour bumpers.
auldford
Cracking buy there fella! I had an LX 1.8 diesel on an M-plate. It was a nice comfy barge for battering up and down the motorways of central Scotland.
greengartside
Did some research and found there was actually a base spec! This guy on Flickr has some amazing brochure scans BTW... https://www.flickr.com/photos/61090099@N04/22831540740/in/album-72157659836738631/ (1994 MY) egg and Cavcraft
Alexg
I threw a bid on this when I found it tucked in the parts section. My eBay app alerted me to it ending but I couldn't be arsed to have another go - lucky for both of us probably. Cavcraft and egg
sierraman
Looks like an Aspen. I've got the 1995 brochure at home I'll have a look.
egg
Cheers greengartside - nice brochure find. I don't reckon it has ABS then - Ford's vehicle lookup on the Etis system doesn't mention it. Alex - I noticed there were 4-5 bidders in all. The collection has just got a whole lot easier - seller can now drive the car to Faversham tomorrow - so I just have to nip a couple of stops up the train line to get it in the morning. Should just be at cost of petrol. Fingers crossed.
sierraman
My 97 1.8LX didn't have ABS. Unlikely to have ABS in 1993.

rantingYoof
I've posted this elsewhere I think, but when we went to RoI a loooong time ago in SnrYoof's Senator, it decided to break down, and our replacement vehicle was a (brand new at the time) 1.6 Mondeo saloon. I thought it was an interesting change of scenery. SnrYoof wasn't able to get his head around a manual 'box or having 120hp less than he had the day before. egg
egg
Yeah, I'm going to have 10 bhp less than in a Fusion!
Pillock
There was indeed a base model, this is the March 1993 Brochure... Rev counter was LX and above You also missed out on a sunroof, map pockets on the back of the seats, variable wipers and leccy windows. You get manual mirrors too, you pauper. andrew e, egg and R9UKE
Pillock
Weirdly, compared to the 1995 brochure that has no side strips, in 1993 they are present and correct....

egg
Good bits: Ride quality is good, Pulls well enough considering engine sizeSeats are comfyLove the giffer-ness of itDealer stamps in the service book Issues: Oil leak - probably rocker cover gasket, bit of a smell of oil in the cabin - can see leak in the pic.Steering a little vague around the straight ahead - a bit worrying as you increase speed, a bit of play in it. Also a bit heavy at low speeds. Tyre pressures checked so not that.Constantly flickering on and off air bag lightNo documentary evidence of timing belt change! R9UKE
That brings me right back to being a kid and the Mondeo being my favourite car EVAAA. Fatha had a 1.6 LX and it had the same very 90s blue interior. I'm seriously jealous, well done!
