Dumped cars in your area

The P5 was there last year, probably 8 or 9 months ago when I was on the replacement bus from Billericay.  Not been down that particular road since.  I would jump off the train after work and look but there are ticket barriers at Billericay so jumping off and on again would be a faff as my ticket is not to that station.

I'm always in the area - can you give me an idea which road it's in or where's best to see it from please?

It is/was up the Mountnessing Road on the left hand side if you are heading away from the roundabout. Behind those trees (easier in the winter when the trees are bare) its down there amongst all the growth and behind one of those office blocks.  I used to see it regularly from the top deck of the replacement bus.

Yes definitely, I'm a 2 minute walk away from there

Just been to Billericay and found the P5, it is still there..although very obscured by the trees, bushes and brambles.

You need to walk up this mountnessing road and stop by this lamppost that says something about alcohol free zone or whatever. If you look through those trees and bushes you can just about see it, and walk just along slightly you can see it side on but it’s probably 98% obscured.   I then walked around the other side of the car wash into the office car park and if you look over this fence you can see the V8 engine which I suspect is from the P5 and the Rover is amongst all those brambles.

That's well hidden, I drive past there every day and thought it had gone, used to be pretty visible but I guess easier to see when there's less foliage, good spotting!

Yes Neil, even walking along this time of year you wouldn't spot it unless you knew it was there.   Its alot more hidden now, the brambles and stuff have really taken over.

Surprised no one has lifted the 3.5 V8 out. I can’t actually see the car in the photos?

The V8 engine is down behind the fence, completely out of sight.  The car is well buried and very difficult to photograph even without the glare of the sun using a camera phone.  Hoping one of the others can pop by and do better with a proper camera and no glare.

Talking of old abandoned Rovers, there used to be a P4 almost completely engulfed in undergrowth, at the side of a field by the Fortune of War roundabout, on the A13 at Laindon. It was on the London bound side, 300 yards or so before the roundabout. Its only really visible from the cab of a lorry or van. I was tipped off about it and it still took me ages to find it. That was about 10 years ago, not sure if its still there but it was barely visible then, it was parked in a hedge with just the lower half of one side visible.

A127 but I know where you mean. Not the easiest place to stop and look either.

There used to be some old cars sitting next to the exit for Wickford as you went Southend bound but never checked them out. Did find the mortal remains of an Austin 1300 that my mates used to play in, 20 odd years later it had been rolled into a ball and buried by a digger. Still found it though.

Yeah of course it's the A127! An inexcusable mistake really, as I know the area like the back of my hand!

Well I found the Rover P5. Followed the directions, you can just about make it out through the brambles;

It looked like it might be possible to get closer, so despite only having shorts and a vest to protect me, I decided to take one for the team, climb through the fence and take on the hawthorn, brambles and nettles

Untaxed since 1990. Don't think this one will be seeing a road again. It's not even clear which property it belongs to, as it's not really accessible from a road, I reckon it was there before the office complex behind was built - 1991

I think I've pulled most of the thorns out of my arms and legs...ouch.

As I was exploring I thought I'd go and pap this, which has been sat there with the door open for a very long time;

As that was right next to Windsor Trading estate (scrapyards/salvage cars) I thought I'd take a peek. All closed of course but there were some orphans outside;

Well Done man!!  I wouldn't of fancied climbing down through those brambles and bushes.  10 bonus spotting points there!  Well buried away isn't it.

Agreed, I tried some pics earlier today but could barely make the car out through the undergrowth and didn't fancy braving the thorns so fair play  to bunglebus!

I'm sure the car used to be much nearer the bungalow / office and that's why I thought it had gone, so I think it must have just been dragged away from there when the car wash people moved in and tidied up the area behind.

This was my best effort so you can imagine what the others were like!
