Thank fook for cameras on phones because even standing infront of these cars I still just couldn't take it all in,

we cut down through the village and on the outskirts came to a large cattle shed and once the door was opened we walked in and I damn near fainted yet again, maybe I actually died and went to heaven at least that's what it felt like.

this is what greeted us.

We headed back down to his house but with a slight detour to yet another garage,

we arrived in a housing estate and walked down the drive to a large double garage and my heart was racing yet again, what the fook where we going to see this time god only knows.

once we entered yet another rally car and it was another opel gsi

post-3747-0-72389600-1449173655_thumb.jpgpost-3747-0-50788900-1449173686_thumb.jpg

and my all time favourite car eh yup again I just cant make my mind up what's the best.

this opel gt is just gorgeous and I just wanted to drive it home it is such a sexy shape and twice the car an e type jag is.

post-3747-0-71767300-1449173734_thumb.jpgpost-3747-0-26839100-1449173763_thumb.jpg

we showed some interest in the triumph and he said oh you like bikes too, eh well yeh next time he said next time.

we left the garage and headed to his home for a coffee, while the mechanic was making it he showed us his upstairs rooms which where packed with seats dashes and loads of rally bits and bobs, we sat in the living room drinking coffee and having a three way conversation with the mechanic translating, as we sat I noticed models of all sorts of cars and about 50 trophys on shelves, I got up and read a few and well over half where first place hmm this guy must be quite talented,

we finished our coffee and he said come look so down to the basement we headed and this is what we where confronted with.

post-3747-0-82719200-1449173792_thumb.jpg

this guy was only a bloody champion rally driver and most of them trophys where first places as well, he did not come over as anything other than a quiet bloke who had a mechanic run around after him, after not seeing him drive once I just thought he was a garage owner but nope the damn bloke was now my hero,

after chatting about rallying for half an hour we jumped back in the taxi I mean audi and headed back to the garage to pay the bill and head of home,

we stood talking and saying our farewells and he gave us both a firm handshake and a hug, fookin ell I wasn't expecting that I never even got a hug of me own fither.

we grabbed a couple of pizzas and headed homeward with grins from ear to ear,

Here we go again.

Since it was now cracking on for 6pm we decided to just drive and eat on the hoof, maybe we could make an 11pm train and be home on Sunday morning, we had a fuel stop to keep us going until the uk.

post-3747-0-65719900-1449175794_thumb.jpg

at a steady 70mph we where making bloody good time and covering the miles right up until this happened, it was only 9pm ish but I didn't take a pic that pic is from the following day.

post-3747-0-26381100-1449175817_thumb.jpg

we made the executive decision to just plow on and 60 odd miles later instead of telling us what was wrong the car decided to tell us that it had temporarily turned of convenience pack, so now we had no ciggy lighter for the sat nav, a few miles later it came up as stop battery alternator fault so we pulled in at a service station and parked up on the forecourt, a quick search under the bonnet and for some reason the alternator was covered in oil, we jacked it up and sprayed most of the can of cleaner through the fins to see if we could clear the brushes,

of course this didn't work and we where still the wrong side of Brussels damnblastcockandballs.

We called breakdown and a few garages but they couldn't understand us one bit, I stood around the shop door way like a 5 pound prostitute asking if anyone spoke English but I was met with blank expression's we where fooked, we where surrounded with trucks and all we needed was a battery and the thought did cross our mind,

in the end we decided it was going to be rough it in the car and drive as far as we can in daylight that way with no lights on we may stand a chance,

I put on my arctic jacket and we settled in for the night but as we where parked next to the flappy advertising flags sleep was not easy, during the night I kept popping into the garage and paying 50c and sitting in the toilet just to warm up, it was the longest night ive ever encountered and it was that windy one of the flags lay snapped on the ground, once daylight surfaced we had a coffee and decided to head of in the rain but guess what the fookin car wouldn't start.

It was now Sunday morning and we had four flat battery's, the car two phones and the sat nav and to top it of it was raining, we even contemplated calling a taxi to take us to the train and just abandoning the rig,

after a couple of coffee's a hgv transporter pulled up to get fuel and since we where in the west side he was heading our way surely, we popped over and asked where he was heading but no English there's a surprise I mean what else do we expect in a foreign country, after much slaverin and hand waving charades I think he got what our problem was and he called his company who would send out a support vehicle and he said 1 hour, we thanked him and went for another coffee more out of boredom than thirst.

The van arrived in the hour and we did our pointing thing and he opened the van to show us three batterys, the 100amp one was fitted and the sum of 220 euros was paid a quick chat and the other smaller one was also purchased for 100 euros as a backup, we where on our way woohoo.

We had a new battery the car was running and we where doing 70mph again things where looking up indead,

shite I spoke too soon after only 80 miles all hell broke loose on the dashboard and the lights where fighting for supremacy, the message board was jumping from stop to brake fault abs fault gearbox fault stop the fuck now or imminent death will ensue, we nursed it to the next garage where it said brake performance reduced and by fuck it wasn't lying,

post-3747-0-14727600-1449180154_thumb.jpg

we did think to just abandon it here but what's that in the distance a recovery truck with a towbar,

we spoke to him and tried to bribe him with cash to take us to the chunnel but he said he cant leave Brussels darn it, he did call a breakdown company who agreed to come and save us bingo,

while waiting we bodged a charging circuit to give us a phone and it worked woohoo we now have 40% on at least one battery.

post-3747-0-33357500-1449180182_thumb.jpg

40 minutes later this arrived to save the day.

post-3747-0-33797800-1449180219_thumb.jpg

aptly named and stands for Fucked Again Stupid Twats.

before he even looked at the car he took our 340 euros, once paid he fitted yet another new battery and told us to follow him and he will charge the other two to get us into the uk

of we followed

post-3747-0-68748200-1449180835_thumb.jpg

we arrived at a terraced house in the middle of a row with a garage door and carried the two battery's over, when he opened the door the garage was full of recovery trucks even a full size truck complete with hiab which only just fitted inside.

The battery's where plonked on charge and we where invited in for coffee, while we sat drinking horrible coffee this little dog decided to provide some entertainment,

he started popping wheelies and doing donuts.

post-3747-0-55092300-1449181177_thumb.jpg

this entertained us for a while until the father or grandfather came in and started to ask about the scrote on the trailer, after a while the bloke who may have been his son asked us if we wanted to go and look at his cars, we thought nothing to loose so why not,

Given the supreme reliability of the Merc on this trip, you might have been better off switching round and towing the Benz back with the Scrote.  Even with no engine or interior, I think you would have had more success.   Top collection thread BTW, but next time take a Toyota.

the scrotes engine is in its boot and since its a 2.0 pinto it would probably tow it no bother.

as for Toyota well that kept going into limp mode the last time it was in Germany in fact that's four trips now and every time something has went tits up.

Ah sod it here you go,

inside the garage was loads of cars but I had to be choosy as I only had managed to squeeze 20% into my phone battery.

this shogun was quite possibly the best one I have ever seen and has only got 98000 kilometre's on it,

post-3747-0-78137100-1449184184_thumb.jpgpost-3747-0-79286000-1449184211_thumb.jpg

post-3747-0-42750200-1449184315_thumb.jpg

I couldn't get near this ds as it was a bit crammed in,

post-3747-0-35955600-1449184337_thumb.jpg

I seem to have lost the photo of the nice merc but here is an engine shot and he fired it up and it sounded every bit as good as the 19000 ks suggested.

post-3747-0-19797700-1449185197_thumb.jpg

now guess the engine.

post-3747-0-74758000-1449184368_thumb.jpg

yup it was attached to this sweet low millage car and I wanted it so bad it hurt but he wouldn't sell it.

post-3747-0-19205400-1449184395_thumb.jpgpost-3747-0-37170700-1449184421_thumb.jpg

towels on the seats to protect them,

post-3747-0-86253900-1449184448_thumb.jpg

and only 48000 ks not even run in yet.

post-3747-0-98674900-1449184469_thumb.jpg

and now the best for last

I took pics of the wheel arches but they are to blurry along with the interior shot balls I will have to go back again,

post-3747-0-31699400-1449185147_thumb.jpg

post-3747-0-01288900-1449185167_thumb.jpg
