Alexg
Got the train down to Ashford and met the owner of this after the sold/not sold shenanigans as seen in the News 24 thread. He'd originally planned to banger race it but thankfully changed his mind. He wasn't chuffed letting it go for £310 and asked how I found it tucked away in the parts section... Because my life sucks clearly.Looks a bit scabby but it's dark so difficult to make out. Nice and speccy though; 1.4 5 speed with Sunroof, Leccy Windows and Mirrors and remote locking! Drives fine, apparently sat for 2 months but after warming up didn't miss a beat. The guy bought it a few months back from an old guy who'd had it from new! Check this out!!Original bill of sale and credit agreementA collection of photos for some reason...I'm leaving it until Sunday for a good daytime look. Meanwhile security measures are in place......as I don't want history repeating itself-First impressions: not as grim as expected. meshking, trigger, Angrydicky and 44 others

cms206
That is well fit. I was trying to get my new gaffer to buy me a 1.6 Belmont as a company car about a fortnight ago 'cos I'm a depot manager now but apparantly I'm a twat and can use the van like anyone else. AlabamaShrimp
I looks good and love your anti theft stuff. Don't think I've ever seen one that says Astra Belmont though was this when they were phasing them out? What I don't get about it is you say the seller seemed unhappy to let it go for about £300 yet he was going to smash it up? Forget about it being a one owner with tons of paperwork it's the greed thing of "I think it's worth loads for it and if no one pays then I'll smash it up"
vulgalour
I wonder if the photos were for insurance valuation to show overall condition of the car? greengartside, stripped fred, BorniteIdentity and 1 other
Sudsprint
Excellent purchase. And fair play to Vauxhall for naming a car after a third rate Blackpool B&B. HMC, Banger Kenny, UltraWomble and 2 others
garethj
What a fantastic find, as long as it's not too crusty underneath that will probably keep going forever.
r.welfare
Astra Belmont from the 89 facelift, just plain Bemont before that. I bought one while pissed on eBay about 10 years back. Must have been when scrap was on its arse as it was £51 with a months MOT and tax. Deeper brown than this but a 1.8i, it flew. If this one isn't crusty around the arches or underneath you've done well.
Rusty_Rocket
Love it mate! A Belmont in Gold is definitely for winners. Nice spec too As long as the pedals stay where they are when you rock the steering left and right, I'd say you can't lose!
the judge
Noice!!!Electric windows on a belmont oooooooo!!Could you not have saved time and took the steering wheel off and put it in the house?
Pillock
So the bloke knew he'd put it in the Parts section but then moaned about only making three hundred? Weird. My mum had an Astra on an H, I think the LX was a new model that year but she went for the GL which added electric windows and an electric aerial, and white wheeltrims that someone pinched. Either your old bloke hit the options list, or the Belmont was better spec.
Taff
that dashboard pic makes it look proper povvo spec, doesn't it? There is a red one near me that hasn't been washed since 1993 tooSavvy
Joey spud
I ran a garage all through the 90's and the vauxhall dealer used to keep me stocked up with the usual filters, plugs and pads but they also stocked me with lock sets, steering lock housings and nova, astra, cav column cowlings. Also still got a tool that I bought back then that could reform the mangled door lock holes. NIce car saw one yesterday coming out of Hoo was it this one ?
UltraWomble
Apparently Im a twat for just posting saying "I like this" and cluttering the forum up - so for maximum shite points a photo of the Belmont parked in front of the Belmont is needed. oldcars, michael t, Banger Kenny and 3 others

NorfolkNWeigh
Bit of elbow grease and it could look as good as it did in 2012 It was spotted by an Astra mk2 Licker called Simon Osbon- someone on here ? This thread has reminded me I had a Belmont as a company car once for about 6 months, it was a 1.8i CD , fast but horrible ultra-light power steering. Does anyone remember the CAR Gian Test between the Belmont CDi , Onion 1600e and Aleggro VdP ? Mine was identical to the Velour fest in that joke test, except I peeled the big vinyl sticker off the boot lid and de- badged it, I hate stuck on shit on my cars.
