Look at that rear spring hanger mounting area! I assumed they were supposed to look like Swiss cheese for weight reduction. Yours must be one of the rare heavy models or something...

After a brief interlude it was time to carry on with the Minor.

First thing was to get it on its side.

Fuel tank out, this is the waxy treatment that has kept it from resembling a tea strainer.

Scraped off a load of 'crap' from the bottom, this can be seen on the card underneath.

Washed and scrubbed with petrol.

I will have another go at it on Tuesday with the petrol and see if it is coming off ok.

Tomorrow I'm waiting in for my delivery.

Got this set up today for a play, sorry evaluation.

4mm stuff at about 60% of the machines capacity.

Then onto the 1mm stuff that will be what it does most.

First off I did a spot and move, both front and back pictures.

Then I did a little run, again front and back.

I obviously need to have more of a play but the Clarke 90 Pro that I was using will be up for sale to replenish some funds.

Well impressed with the machine and R-Tech

The new welder looks great, I also started with a Clarke 90 and used it quite a lot for 20 years, the replacement was secondhand and now playing up. I have thought about getting a decent new one as these are tools that quickly pay for themselves many times over. This looks great, what made your mind up to choose this model? I  start looking then struggle to make a decision.

I dithered for quite a while, I was watching one of Trev's Blog videos on YouTube and this is the model he uses.

It was the welder set up video which is quite recent and the welds he was producing were amazing and that swung it for me.

I just hope it is as reliable as the Clarke welder has been for me.

Back on with the cleaning of the underside of the car.

I have carried on with the tub of petrol and a washing up brush after scraping the majority off but I needed something slightly abrasive and also needed a degreaser which led to a thought then a request to purchase, here's the purchase.

Happily they did exactly what I wanted, so snidy Brillo pads for the win.

This has let me progress a bit so I now have most of the rear of the car cleaned back. I think another day of cleaning, please God only another day, should see most of that away. It should then be a little cleaner work.

It is quite amazing that not only is there metal still there but the original paint is mostly intact.
