Jim Bell
It's gonna be SO SLOW with all that metal in it. It'll last the longest though. Great trade off Tickman

Tickman
After a brief interlude it was time to carry on with the Minor. First thing was to get it on its side. Fuel tank out, this is the waxy treatment that has kept it from resembling a tea strainer. Scraped off a load of 'crap' from the bottom, this can be seen on the card underneath. Washed and scrubbed with petrol. I will have another go at it on Tuesday with the petrol and see if it is coming off ok. Tomorrow I'm waiting in for my delivery. gm, stereotype, RobT and 12 others

SiC
How much room do you need for those things to roll a car on its side? Both in height and width? Presumably the width of the height of the car? Do they need to go fully on their sides or can be partially tilted? LightBulbFun
Tickman
I had it at about 30 degrees while doing the wheel arches. For rolling onto its side I would allow width plus height the add two foot of extra room
Tickman
I've been like a little kid waiting for it to arrive, have to wait until tomorrow for taking it for a spin though. Just hope it all works. Then it will be time to move on the trusty Clarke 90 to claw back some funds. Tickman
Got this set up today for a play, sorry evaluation. 4mm stuff at about 60% of the machines capacity. Then onto the 1mm stuff that will be what it does most. First off I did a spot and move, both front and back pictures. Then I did a little run, again front and back. I obviously need to have more of a play but the Clarke 90 Pro that I was using will be up for sale to replenish some funds. Well impressed with the machine and R-Tech Shite Ron, Skizzer, Steviemillar and 13 others
big_al_granvia
nice work, on the 4mm you could tell there was good penetration, not burning holes in the 1mm either. proper job Tickman
Tickman
Got on with some more cleaning and treating of Gwen. Not much but I was too excited with the new welder to concentrate. Shite Ron
The new welder looks great, I also started with a Clarke 90 and used it quite a lot for 20 years, the replacement was secondhand and now playing up. I have thought about getting a decent new one as these are tools that quickly pay for themselves many times over. This looks great, what made your mind up to choose this model? I start looking then struggle to make a decision.

I dithered for quite a while, I was watching one of Trev's Blog videos on YouTube and this is the model he uses. It was the welder set up video which is quite recent and the welds he was producing were amazing and that swung it for me. I just hope it is as reliable as the Clarke welder has been for me. Angrydicky
That new welder looks great! I recently moved from a 25 year old SiP 150 Turbo to a new Clarke 130 and the difference is phenomenal, it's so much more consistent in the weld quality! Tickman
Back on with the cleaning of the underside of the car. I have carried on with the tub of petrol and a washing up brush after scraping the majority off but I needed something slightly abrasive and also needed a degreaser which led to a thought then a request to purchase, here's the purchase. Happily they did exactly what I wanted, so snidy Brillo pads for the win. This has let me progress a bit so I now have most of the rear of the car cleaned back. I think another day of cleaning, please God only another day, should see most of that away. It should then be a little cleaner work. Pictures. It is quite amazing that not only is there metal still there but the original paint is mostly intact. 320touring, LightBulbFun, gm and 11 others
