Tickman
Then I went home and washed these two. Should never wash cars as you always discover more issues. Tickman
I've been using the 205 for my commute and have covered 600 miles so far and apart from being a little noisy it is a very nice place to be. Last visit this was replaced But this turned out to be VERY soft so I ordered the correct bush and got to work fitting it. Bushes can be pushed it using a vice but this bracket has a driveshaft running through it. No problem... The free range vice came in very handy. I still have one lower bush to change but ran out of time today. LightBulbFun, JMotor, CaptainBoom and 22 others 24
Tickman
Bit more done today. Took the metal bracket off and pressed the new bush in. This bit in here Had a look at the brake calipers Won't be bleeding them anytime at all. Another thing for the growing list. Tickman
In the continued fun* with engine mounts I ordered the two for the top even though @Supernaut had changed them already. The gearbox side was delivered a day earlier than the engine side one so that got removed and compared. New one is the taller one which got fitted. I had received good pictures from @juular to compare to what I had. This showed that mine was fucked despite being only a few months old. As the replacement hadn't arrived I cut 20mm off the old gearbox side mount and fitted that on top of the existing mount. Today the mount was ready for collection so I picked it up on the way home from work and stopped at the workshop. I'll let you guess which is the old one. Completely collapsed. Good news was that the timing belt looks decent. Time taken from pulling up to driving off finished was 10 minutes. I'd had a bit* of practice! dome, juular, Shirley Knott and 5 others
Tickman
When I got the C1 off @davehedgehog31 he said that a wheel bearing was starting to make noise. It has taken about 6 months of use to get to the point of being bad enough to need changing. That was yesterday's job. Car in and on the ramp and jacked up. Disconnect enough stuff to get the hub off. Spend far too long pressing the old bearing out, realising that you need to cut some metal to prop the hub up high enough, realise that the little 6 ton press is not strong enough to get the bearing moving, regret not spending more and buying a better one, get some hammers, put the hub in a vice and batter fuck out of it, put it back in the press and eventually get it to move. Old one out, new one in, race cut off the hub flange and that all back together. Think of a way of lowering the lower are to get the ball joint back together. A scissor jack works perfectly. Get it all bolted back together. Disc and caliper back on, wheel on and done. In short, either buy the best tools you can when you can or pay a man. I may* have exceeded the book time slightly! Tickman
Started on the boot floor repairs. I had a quick poke with just fingers first and it was quite crispy. Grinder out and find the good edge. I started on the left smaller hole first. Then over to the other side Still more to be done there but I'd had enough so thought about tidying up And decided that looked fine as it was so went home. Tickman
Not updated in a while. The 205 welding got finished a couple of hours before @Ged collected it. Hope it is doing well for him. The C1 diesel has been my daily for a couple of weeks, I put the advert for it on gumtree and facebook recently and had a few time wasters, should be collected tonight as long as nothing gets in the way. With the red C1 going it would need replacing with something so I started looking and found a suitable back up car. That is currently at the workshop as it was for sale round the corner. With the little C107go's being so good that is exactly what I've replaced it with. Out In sdkrc, Jim Bell, loserone and 9 others 6

Tickman
Phone call from the youngest yesterday that she had hit a pothole. It was a big one. She has autoaid and called them once she was home because the tyre and wheel were damaged. The local independent came out and basically said her car was shit. He couldn't get the wheel off because it was 'welded to the hub' this is because there was 'no brake pad and the calipers were knackered' and 'has it ever been serviced' everything would 'need to go to a garage for that, never be able to fix it here' He also managed to completely fuck the ignition switch which had a knack to it that Meg had perfect. I loaded up the boot of the slk today and went to Glasgow. First off the ignition switch, I'd already bought a lock set for the car which was in the boot. 30 minutes later and that was changed. Now the wheel, a few taps with a decent mallet and it was still stuck so I applied the work smart not hard. Yep that works well. I'd brought the discs and pads that were to go on next time it was home. Pistons pushed back very easily and the pads with at least 6mm of thickness were removed. Discs and pads swapped and a replacement wheel fitted and she is good to go. I was more than a little pissed off with the lies. Yes the wheel was stuck but if you can't figure it out just say you can't rather than the bullshit. Less than two and a half hours and it was all done in a car park and definitely not a garage. I thought the same and I've straightened damage in the past but it isn't just the rim, it is the hoop as well that is damaged. I'm hoping that the wheel took the force and it wasn't transferred elsewhere, it did drive ok after the work.

My ZX has a loud tick/knock when under load and this particular mount looks shagged and i think it's causing the engine to move enough to make the cat hit the floorpan. Well I hope that's what it is. Zelandeth
Intrigued to hear you have a diesel C1, have never actually come across one that wasn't petrol. How does it compare? I bought a 107 new back in 2009 on the strength of my time spent in the C1 pool cars we had at work, so curious to know how the diesel version stacks up. Always just thought a rev happy petrol would be better matched to the car - the fact the dealer couldn't find a diesel one within 200 miles for me to test suggested they didn't sell many!
