eddyramrod
Brilliant. I'm sitting here grinning! This is exactly what this forum needs to counterbalance all the unintended metal-bending there's been this month. Well done sir. fatharris
Damnit, there's a Laguna auto diesel with "keycard issues" for sale in Plymouth on a best offer basis. Now I'm tempted to offer £100 for the epic lolz. I mean, I won't, because I'm obviously not totally bloody hatstand, but the temptation was there. Lacquer Peel
I've taken used veg on a Stagecoach bus to pick up a Xantia diesel in Glasgow. I stupidly put it in the hold and imagined the bottles spilling and coating everyone else's luggage in a film of vegetable oil - luckily the 10l containers held. Jim Bell
Think I've got a decent pair of new unused speakers still in a box in the cupboard. Can measure them if you're arsed about improving the ICE. scaryoldcortina

scaryoldcortina
Well, it seems ok so far, but I haven't tried using it yet. I will admit that almost half my autoelectrical work comes from Renaults failing to proceed though. I tried changing the radio for a sony one that is "renault ready" so should work the display and remote but it doesn't. Seems there are two entirely different protocols that use the same plug on the back of the radio. This is the kind of thing that gets them a reputation. Changed front strut for non leaky one, fitted two new droplinks. This adds £14 to the tally, cost so far is £24. Parky
And the number of "RS" badged Fords a few years back was almost identical to the number of "FORD E CO T"s you saw.I personally think that Ford had a metric shitload of Escort badges lying about and managed to sell all the R's and S's over the years to the chav and Barry brigade. That still left the remaining letters... Quick bit of rearranging and "hey guys, we should call our new engine the ECOTEC". All the spare letters were used, the people doth rejoice and I should have put that in the bullshit thread... garethj
Lucky you don't follow the Bangernomics model - you shouldn't spend more on repairs than the car is worth. At £24 you're at about 150% of its value already, this is the kind of reckless hedonistic abandon with money that I like to see. It's the equivalent of buying a real house on Park Lane for £175 like you do on Monopoly. purplebargeken
You're throwing good money away there fella. Really, really good money. Be careful it doesn't bankrupt you when it all goes pear shaped and costs you up to 40 quid. We might have a whip round for you. Might. The Reverend Bluejeans
I am most certainly up for a Roffle on this one. The idea of a functioning* Lagooner for a couple of quid is keeping me awake at night. eddyramrod

scaryoldcortina
More reckless spending today - Two winter tyres, more or less brand new, £20 each fitted and balanced. Tesco Apple scented multi surface cleaner - 70p This was to clean the surfaces with because everything was sticky, in the sort of way only toddlers normally manage. It took about an hour but was well worth it. Shiny! Hmm, I'm running out of jobs. Went over to the scrapyard and got the speakers from one of their dead lagunas, took the toolkit holding bit from inside the spare too because it's missing. These were free. Laguna door speakers can be got at with no tools and removed with one screwdriver, so swapping all four took about 10 minutes. If it had been an audi, I'd still be removing the first door panel! 3 speakers with blown cones, and one Kenwood replacement which wasn't connected. I changed all four. Whoever fitted* the kenwood butchered the plug so I went back to the scrap car and cut off a speaker plug to fix it. There is a special french way to tell which of the wires is which. More appropriate music selected. No more ultimate hardcore trance dancefloor anthems here. And then it rained. A lot. So I gave up and came home. Tally now stands at £64.28. Added to insurance, have logbook now, will tax on tuesday. Jim Bell, worldofceri, greengartside and 9 others
