Pete-M
Right, I've ended up with a ShiteOldEscort van with a few months tax and test. As it is vaguely motivated by Satans older method of combustion [1] I need to know what I can run the fucking thing on that will cost me less than 99p a litre [2]It's the ever-popular 1.8 Endura D thing, the non turbo job with about 4 bhp.I suspect this thing will probably run on SVO, will it? If not, what other shit will it struggle along on, or do I just shove some turps or something in with the Veg oil? [3][1] He's heavily into hybrids now, or so I've heard..[2] I'm driving a diesel, it's my job to be a complete cheapskate.[3] Frying tonight!! VWPowered
mix down 33% chip pan fat (drained to remove batter etc) to diesel insert drive and enjoy the savoury fragrance...(long as its not direct injection/on a rail my old Golf loved the stuff ran just as well... FredTransit
Any idea what make of pump it's got? Lucas, forget it. Bosch and you are on a winner! Bosch you can run up to 70% in warmer weather, 50/50 as long as it's not too cold.

The pump is mainly just a big lump of sludge under the bonnet, as is everything else under there. Engine is sweet as a nut, starts first turn and doesn't sound unduly 'orrible, but the wedge of old MOT's all have an advisory for "oil leak".. Milford Cubicle
Get a pic of the fuel pump up, it's the only way to be sure. The Bosch pumps are less compact and have lots exposed on the top.The Lucas pump might have the Lucas logo on the plastic throttle arm
