Guest
So what year is this particular production being set in then? Did they fit H-suffix plates to the Datsun? I can't imagine that would have been current in '69-'70 either
aled
it will be1972-
reallyloud
Great to see a Datsun being included in something like this. Shame about all the inaccuracies - its these kind of sloppy mistakes that can ruin a TV program (for me anyway). The Howard Marks story is interesting, I read about dope filled adventures and his ability to stay ahead of the law - he's a very entertaining guy (I saw one of his lectures too a few years back) Rhys Ifans is also a true rock and roll star, so should be worth seeing when it is broadcast. I wonder if there is any of the wonderful Super Furry Animals involvement in it as well?
ashmicro
What datsuncherry said. "The Day of the Jackal" Movie had a mark 1 Escort in, yet was supposed to be pre 68. Ultimate Farce was an offender too, with lots of nonsense Northern Ireland plates.Mind you, great stuff getting your motor in a film. Cool as. r.welfare
The Howard Marks story is interesting, I read about dope filled adventures and his ability to stay ahead of the law - he's a very entertaining guy (I saw one of his lectures too a few years back)Seconded. I saw him at the Princes Theatre in Aldershot - an ironic venue really, everybody went outside to smoke dope in the interval while the squaddies piled past. The book makes reference to the Mk1 Capri being the best car for the dope smuggler, incidentally - plenty of space in the doors and rear quarter panels. Jason A
The book makes excellent reading, though I doubt if the film will make Spanish cinemas somehow, so I'll have to wait for the DVD, which will be compulsive viewing with all that shite in the film. Agree with what's been said about the inaccuracies, shame. Best part of the book for me, was when he was in prison here in Madrid, and was being transferred to another prison in Spain. Howard and the others prisoners asked if they perhaps might have a beer, so the guards stopped the van, went and bought a few cervezas and everyone had a leisurely beer, while the helicopter circulated overhead!Great piccies by the way, the Wolseley 16/60 did it for me

Mash
Shameless self-promotion time - the programme I have my cars in starts on 5th March on Channel 4 Red Riding, 1974 1980 and 1983.Look out for the Triumph 1300 in 1974 and I'm in one of the scenes as a passenger in the gold Viva (albeit from a fair distance!)The Violet and B11 Sunny are in 1983.
