anonymous user
I doubt that I shall ever buy a second hand car again. Just about every car I look at on ebay now, I end up checking the Mot history, usually to find that it has failed the MOT, then passed but still with a long list of advisories. Maybe that's because I only look at shit cars though. It's even stranger that some, where the ad quotes it as having an MOT, won't come up at all, saying no details available. sierraman
It's not a bad thing a few advisories, unless they seem to make a cameo appearance every year. I'd be incredibly wary of stuff showing subframe corrosion, oil leaks, recent fails for corrosion then a subsequent pass. Usually some birdshit welding followed by a load of tiger seal and a coat of under seal.

spike60
My old BMW 540i is recorded as having Nearside Rear Tyre tread depth below requirements of 1.6mm (4.1.E.1)Offside Rear Tyre tread depth below requirements of 1.6mm (4.1.E.1)Offside Rear Tyre has ply or cords exposed (4.1.D.1b) and all can say is it didn't. I owned the car at the time of all recorded tests and i've never had a car fail on a tyre, let alone 2, one of which was down to the wire. Are there many other errors like this recorded? Coprolalia
This site is ace for scoping eBay purchases. I've been nosing about for a derv 205 WBOD in a half arsed way. One popped up locally for £200 with stellar mileage but MOT. Mot-history says:Galloping rot everywhere. Leaky brake pipes and fuel pipes. That'll be a no then. 3VOM
So today I tested a car which had a screw in the tyre. On the old mot system there were 'non component related advisisories" one of which was "nail in tyre" New system doesn't have this but has a text box to type an advisory in to. I typed in "screw in offside rear tyre" It came up with an error code along the lines of "A profanity has been detected" So I can't say "screw", that's the end of the road for advisories such as "shit wheels"You obviously aren't being specific enough. If you'd said "Philips 1 1/2" No 6 in offside read tyre" you would have been OK.How you get round severely corroded flange, I can't help you.
