OK, some more spots.. bit of a rubbish collection this time, but thought I'd stick em up anyway...

Went on a road trip last weekend to the Cortina Day show at Symonds Yat.. 1200 miles in one weekend in my mk4 'tina, and she performed faultlessly.

Didnt see nearly as much shite as I was hoping...

In Taunton, ASDA car park...

Posted Image

Posted Image

Scabby posh - spec metro in same car park...

Posted Image

Lovely condition travelling queer LXi.. these are pretty much extinct in Scotland now, but there seemed to still be a fair few around the Bristol/Somerset area.. I spotted no less than four in one day

Posted Image

Old boy driving this special edition Cavalier Commander towards Bristol...

Posted Image

Took pictures of lots of cars at the COrtina Day show, but this was the Shiteiest.. needless to say I loved it.

Posted Image

Back in Scotland... Barried-up Capri in Dundee...

Posted Image

Polish Saab in Perth...

Posted Image

This little Anglia lives in a village called Scotlandwell in Fife.. It looks unused, but had a current tax disc

Posted Image

Just as I turned round having taken the Anglia pic.. this beauty rolled by...

Posted Image

Shite condition mk2 escort in Glenrothes...

Posted Image

another mk2 Cavalier.. bonus points for the white wheeltrims

Posted Image

Apologies for the poor quality of this pic.. it was taken on my phone camera at maximum zoom... these two have been perched up atop MacDonald Metals in Glenrothes for a good few years now.. there used to be a black moggy as well that I remember my primary five teacher driving when i was at school.. but it must have disintegrated.

Posted Image

Finally, this is a bit of a shite goldmine.. a garage that the owners closed down ten or so years ago which has a minefield of rotting shite around the back.. sadly these were the only pics I got as the landowner came out and chased me!

There are a couple of moggy travellers, and HB viva, a hillman hunter and a mk1 transit also taking root there

I really must pay more attention to the Classic Car press!! I'd have loved to have gone to the Cortina day, if I'd been aware such an event even existed!! Some nice looking other Fords in the background too, looks like a nice Consul Classic amongst them. I know they aren't in any way shite, but I for one would be interested in the rest of your pics, particularly if there's any particularly nice Mk 1s.

Anti static strips! my dads mk3 'scrote had one of these and the plastic hands on the boot, very classy :lol:http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Anti-Static-Strip ... 0116831681

Glad to see you followed my advice! I didn't realise I had so much influence! (I saw you were the winner of that auction for the plastic strips I muttered about!)

All it needs now are a couple of those strips of plastic that hang from the back of the car down to the ground like long thin mud flaps....think they were something to do with aiding travel sickness someone told me. Can't work out how but never mind!

If I told you I thought the car would look better painted bright pink, I hope you wouldn't oblige!

O M G!!! I'd have been in heaven!! Somehow never realised what good looking cars these were at the time!! I had an Autumn Gold 2000E Mk 3 estate for a couple of years, which I absolutely loved, but it was killed off by terminal inner-sill rot, and holes around the chassis mountings for the rear suspension trailing arms. All repairable, but cost several times what the car was worth at the time. Shame. Repalced it with an Oyster Gold Mk 4 2000E saloon, which somehow didn't have quite the same charisma. That was replaced by my 1st R 25, and never looked back since!! Scrolling down through those pics, I almost had a little accident when the Consul Capri appeared. What stunning cars they are!!

Ah well it was only a quid so why not! I had completely forgotten they existed till you mentioned them so I thought why not?Not fitted it to the car yet, but will do

The show was superb, happens every year, hopefully you can make the next one :D I had a consul capri for a while, albiet a fairly ropey one that had had its roof chopped off.. theres some pics of it on this thread:http://autoshite.commlm/forum/viewtopic.ph ... ght=#10255

That looks to be one of the last special edition Anglis's, they were based on the 123E 1200 super model and were offered in a choice of metallic gold or blue and were an 'end of line' special made on the run up to MK1 Escort launch, quite a rarity that :D

Always thought the Consul Capri would look good as a convertable, and only ever seen 1 done properly. Had a friend in the mid seventies who got as far as cutting the roof off one, but never got any further. My brother has a very sound one (not a convertable!!), been dry-stored for over 20 years as a future project when the kids are grown up.

Well here's my latest crop of shite. Was at knockhill today for the classic speedfest, and the car park was alive with shite, so most of the pics are from there, with a few others taken mainly in Edinburgh

Wartburg it is. We had them here in the late 70's, and called it a Wartburg Knight. They were pretty special as they were one of only two 3-cylinder cars available to us (Daihatsu Charade being the first). Almost always in bright orange, they smoked around for a few years until they all fell apart. Sounded like a clockwork toy.Until recently, they would be considered mainstream as a Mondeo in Hungary (if I have identified the reg properly)

A quick check of the DVLA site dates it as a 1960 build... strangely first registered in 2002The enquiry is complete The vehicle details for SSL 315 are: Date of Liability 01 02 2008 Date of First Registration 01 03 2002 Year of Manufacture 1960 Cylinder Capacity (cc) 1600CC CO2 Emissions Not Available Fuel Type Petrol Export Marker Not Applicable Vehicle Status Licence Not Due Vehicle Colour BLACK Vehicle Type Approval null Does that mean its an import?

Having the "high" numberplate was quite common on Cav's & Chevette's bac in the day, usually teamed with a tow-bar. Ritmo, being indiginous to my part of the world do you not recall this? Or are you as I suspect too young?

Why would it have to happen in Herts / Beds? Or is it more likely cos they would have rolled off the line at Luton? I'm 24 and I've seen my fair share of GM 1970s bread & butter cars! I don't recall seeing Cavs etc having the number plate raised....however I can recall seeing the odd one with the numberplate still underneath the bumper but shufted to the side a lá Alfa 156/147 but obviously at the rear! I can picture Avenger's with the number plate placed higher.....err what else?......I suppose anything where the numberplate usually sat beneath the bumper was susceptible! MkIII Cortina, Austin Allegro, MkI Carlton, Chevette, Viva HC, Austin Princess, Morris Marina (1st style), all the Pugs....205, 309 ,405......

It will be an import as far as I know PVs weren't ever sold here in RHD form.It also has one of the standard issue plates for pre 63 imports and cars that are plate raped (they are issued with plates from remote areas were there would have been little uptake of new cars at the time, so there are still a massive number of reg sequences to make use of) So they use numbers such as 'SL' 'SY' and 'FF' which at the time represented Clackmannanshire :? & Midlothian in Scotland and Merionethshire in Wales. So you'll get one of these Scottish or Welsh plates wherever you live between Lands End and John O'Groats.....**And talking of John O'Groats, 3 or 4 years ago my parents went on a driving holiday right round the coast of Scotland - East to West. They stopped at Dunnet Head which unlike John O'Groats is the most Northern Mainland point. All that is there is a Lighthouse and a public car park. It was about 9AM and the only other car in the car park apart from my Dad's Saab was an abandoned Volvo PV544. It was a left hooker and rotten as a pear, full of holes and stuffed full of junk. My Dad took a piccie of it for me (which I will try and find) as he knew it would interest me  They came back about an hour later, after going for a walk, and my Dad's Saab was the only car there :!: The Volvo had gone :D:shock::D** Ooops. Just realised Albert Pogweasel has mentioned this in another thread.
