keef
Yes, it was a silly question really, but I always try and give them a chance. Sometimes I am wrong, or just miss something, so asking in case. I've already asked DVLA the question, but they aren't the speediest/most responsive gov dept out there, so ...... You mean to say all blue Cavaliers aren't invalid vehicles? Now that surprises me! I would have expected the special notes bit to say "Declared manufactured 1974" or something along those lines! Yes. it's all a bit of a mystery; hence my original FoI request. My appeal got booted btw - I hadn't applied with my full name! Typical daft regulations as they have my full name on the V5C! 4wheeledstool
Due to my van's rear calipers seizing, this has been in use as work transportation. It's uncomfortably sweaty in this car when the weather is nice, but I can forgive it. trigger, Dannyk, LightBulbFun and 23 others
Uncle Jimmy
Handsome car the Mk1 Cavalier, one of those cars that might have been prosaic but were 'right' in all the important ways. Gave Ford a deserved kick in the arse too. 4wheeledstool
4wheeledstool
My van shat its gearbox last week. This old bus stepped up to fulfill transportation requirements again. Van back on the road now, so this can go back to leisure based usage. Uncle Jimmy, outlaw118, LightBulbFun and 19 others

4wheeledstool
Treated this to a new set of boots on Friday. Should be a considerable improvement on the death rings they're replacing. danthecapriman, Tickman, Isopon and 13 others

Daviemck2006
Love a mk1 cav too, and those rostyles are lush. Had to have the chrome trim rings though. I had a set of them on a mk1 astra too. They suited the angular lines of the mk1 astraSent from my SM-T585 using Tapatalk Burnside and 4wheeledstool
4wheeledstool
After a recent tidy up of the shed, I thought that now there was plenty of room I might as well fit the other new steering arm and balljoint. (Its been a while since the passenger side one was done!) After a bit of faffing, and one of the gaiters tearing, it was finally done and tracked up. The next job on the car will be a bit of a clean underneath, its getting pretty mucky under there. That can wait until my two poster is installed. I still find it amazing that you've done all this work to these two Cavaliers *without* a two poster. 4wheeledstool
4wheeledstool
Still regularly getting out and about in this thing - I moved it over to the shed the other day for a bit of fettling. It needs an oil change, and a rear wheel bearing replacing. Ill hopefully get that stuff sorted at the weekend. 4wheeledstool
Didn't get round to this at the weekend, but did get on it this evening. Wheel and drum came off I cut the old bearing off, much quicker than using the press, and it would allow me to inspect the bearing surfaces. No noticeable wear could be seen, but there was a couple of chips out of the hardened surface of the outer track. This explains why there was plenty of noise, but no discernable play. The new bearing and locking ring were pressed on to the half shaft and once slotted back where it came from, normal quiet running was resumed. 4wheeledstool
Part of my "regular maintenance" schedule involves inspecting the fuel lines in the engine bay. They lasted well, but the braided rubber fuel hoses fitted over 7 years ago have finally started to perish. Replaced them with R9 spec stuff that is supposed to be ethanol proof.👍 Popsicle, Wibble, adw1977 and 14 others
