Thanks, and I'm glad it's gone to a great home.

On reflection, especially now I'm full of beer and curry, today was indeed a good day. Apologies for the lack of cute dog, I am working on a cardboard cut out to stick in the drivers side rear door window.

Now Billy has space for that Triumph Dolomite :)

Just found the missing fuse box cover under the front passenger seat. It's absence was bugging me a little, and finding it has made my day!

Had a good poke about this earlier - the rear arches, drivers side sill and front door bottom, as well as that hole in the wing will all need some attention to ensure the longevity of the car. I should be getting it up on a ramp some time this week, then I'll be able to formulate a plan to restore it to tiptoppedness. Once all undercarriage is deemed sound, bodywork will be ripped back to bare metal and refinished to the full extent of my means. (This will obviously involve me doing as much as I can myself, and leaving the painting part to a professional!)

I think that's been bombed out now.

I saw a metallic brown one with a cream vinyl roof locally today. Twice! never seen it round here before. Very nice

I know the one you mean, it's escaped my camera a few times.

Glad to see the blue one is staying in the fold, sounds like it's in good hands.

get the carpet out, check the front floor pan s, and rear seatbelt points.

then get under it and check the chassis legs, at the bendy bit, called a swan kneck.

the best car my dad had was a green mark 1 cav,, a 2000 GL with a black vinyl roof.

they are mint, shame so few are left!!

Insurance sorted - 103 queenheads! Not had such a measly premium for about 15 years. The time has come to take to the roads!

This is how bloody nice modern cars used to be....Smoked a company 1900 when they were new. I think all my career ambition drained out of me when the FWD ones came out.

Done 50-60 miles in this today, no dramas. Many thumbs up were aimed in my direction from all sorts of persons, not used to that! Felt VERY strange getting into a Polo after driving the Cavalier, it was like I'd forgotten how to drive at first!

Had a good look underneath earlier - rear inner sill ends have lost their underseal and corroded, they're still very solid though, so hopefully a good clean up and re-seal should be fine.

The bottoms of the rear quarters are sound, just a bit of surface rust here and there.

Bit of an oil leak from the gearbox output seal! Floor pans and chassis rails are sound too. There's a couple of spots where the underseal has been damaged, and its a little rusty, but generally it's pretty fine under there.

I'm totally digging this thing! Did a couple of hundred miles in it at the weekend - most enjoyable - it just seems to "fit" me really well! Started the hunt for parts already, its not going too badly.

Been out a-pootling this evening, and its still getting a good papping from random people. Finally parked up for the night.

My missus said virtually every time she looked out of the window someone was taking a picture of the Cav.

Is this phenomenon perfectly normal? I've never owned such good chod before!

This has settled in to its new home now - currently sharing the space with a Nova SR.

After 300 odd miles, the first problem makes itself known - binding driver's side front brake. A strip and clean didn't cure it, so a rebuild kit is being sought.
