brickwall Posted February 13, 2015 Share Posted February 13, 2015 Hi folks, I stuffed the dizzy in again after finding TDC and she fired up no probs. I've advanced the timing a bit to about 6° with the advance pipe pulled off. I'm still getting a bit of a tinkering sound. Is there anything I may have missed out? Junkman Posted February 13, 2015 Share Posted February 13, 2015 Did you make sure the pin of the contact is properly engaged into everything it's supposed to?How did you determine the 6°?Also, with Rover V8s, it's more the dwell that counts, than the ° BTDC. I think the dizzy is okay and I gave it a blob of oil on the shaft and a squirt at the bottom after cleaning to make sure the weights were moving okay. alf892 Posted February 14, 2015 Share Posted February 14, 2015 I thought you had an SD1?Surely these are all electronic ignition and dwell not applicable? As someone else said are quite sure you got the plug leads on correctly? Obviously if running ok apart from noise it ain't gonna be this. This tinkering.........when does it occur.? If at idle check for something loose.....like heatshields, silencer baffles.
