I quite liked pulling the manta out as it was a scene that could have been reality a few times!

Hairy young hooligan bins his manta in a hedge, not too badly but needs a hand out so grabs his mate who has a landrover to get it out before the police see it

Having considered the knocking noise from the Saab 95 engine I think the only way forward without risking further damage is to take the sump off. Unfortunately the engine has to be removed from the car to achieve that.

Therefore our next FoD will focus on taking out the Saab engine and I will set the date depending on the available help with this.

I am free 3/4 Sep or 17/18 Sep Can anybody help?

Those who have seen my Trevi will be amazed that such a shabby car won a prize tonight! I went to a small local show at a pub and the Landlord awarded the Trevi the runner up prize of the car he liked best. The prize was a bottle of wine.

I had the pleasure of driving it a short distance at the weekend, and agree with you there. It felt like it would be a nice A road cruiser (albeit an opinion based on 2 miles driving!). Surprisingly comfortable, and more wafty than I'd have expected.

Thanks for the opportunity @Six-cylinder, and the hospitality at the weekend. I was a bit unsure how well the whole thing would go down with my better half, but she even enjoyed her first experience of slating a roof!

Not certain about possible September dates yet, but the later date more likely to be a goer.

I tried to convince Mrs N that The Greyhound would be a nice place for dinner last night, unfortunately she remembered us going for lunch there some years ago and Pooh-poohed the idea. It looks a bit nicer than then and just, the fact they have wine means it must have gone a bit upmarket.

Im sure there was a Mk3 Granny outside then ( it could have been mine)

Next FoD 17/18 September

The aim will be to lift the Saab engine out ready for inspection.

Full FoD weekend with camping welcome. This could be your last chance this year!

It seems few can make 3/4 September however Slowsilver has volunteered to come over and start removing the bonnet and auxiliary bits from the Saab ready for the engine lift. If you fancy coming over to help or observe you will be welcome just pm me for a time. If you wish to camp that is no problem.
