However, your 504 floppytop is light years ahead in terms of everything - not only is it stunning, I can't get my head around the fact it's only a couple of years newer! The 504 still looks relatively modern today compared to the Triumph. The Herald/Vitesse introduced in 1959 was at the end of its life while the Peugeot 504 Cabriolet was only introduced from the early 1970s until 1982.

Putting it another way though, considering the Herald is a 60ish year old design and the 504 is a 50ish year old design, the Peugeot still looks light years ahead. Shite Ron 1

beko1987 Posted October 22, 2021 Posted October 22, 2021 Phoenix had to stay in all day today as I went out, although not to the office But I got to drive the lancia trevi Which bar some less than fab brakes (although they improved as we went) was brilliant! Goes along the road really nicely, although it's a bit stumbly under load but that should be easily solved with a service and fuel that didn't come out the back of the c15 van... Equally after it's header tank replacement it came up to temp fine, the heaters were warm and all seemed well. Coolant went very dark so could do with a flush once it's all a bit more trustworthy but that's no biggie. Also drove one of the Citroën gs's which was also amazingly brilliant but IDK, the trevi made me smile more (helped Chris move some cars and check the antifreeze in some others etc) Have a pic of an empty hole chaseracer, LightBulbFun, Six-cylinder and 3 others 5 1

I was proud of myself finding the heater and fan controls whilst on the move! I guess after a few miles it all falls nicely to hand. Stalks are in a very friendly position though, just a light flick of a finger
Zelandeth Posted October 22, 2021 Posted October 22, 2021 It really is a nice thing to drive isn't it? While looking bonkers I was really impressed with the ergonomics of that dash too...it looks mad but just...works! You need to observe it from the driver's seat though before it really makes any sense. The cooling system is basically going to need flush after flush after flush and hopefully will eventually come clean. This is what was running out of it last year after I'd had the hosepipe running through it for about ten minutes. Yes, I did catch the antifreeze, well most of it, that came out and the first couple of systems worth of water to come out. This is just water and...either muddy rust or rusty mud. Between those two I'm not sure! I kept thinking I'd got most of it out, but every time you stopped flushing for a few minutes then turned the water back on it started out just as bad again. beko1987 and Shite Ron 2

Six-cylinder Posted October 22, 2021 Author Posted October 22, 2021 That was a busy day, 24 cars checked for antifreeze! We then moved some cars in storage so we could fit in the GS, Trevi and 306 Cab in we brought back from the FoD. When your car puts out a lot of condensation how can you be sure its not HGF, when it is air cooled! I have heard some excuses that I need to go home, but the parrot needs me is a new one. So Zoe took them. A huge thanks to Beko and his stepfather Keith. LightBulbFun, beko1987, Shite Ron and 5 others 8

A few years ago at Brooklands I was on the x1/9 club pitch enjoying lunch and reading the paper when a smartly dressed older woman came up to talk. She’d had her x1/9 from new, I said that mine was a family from new car too etc. She said that she hadn’t been able to bring it to the event as her husband had wanted to bring his car ( to which she then pointed ). A very nice blue 308GTB behind us. Snake Charmer 1

I dislike the time I spend fuelling and therefore if I have to fuel its always a full tank, if its my car. I also feel even if the car is going into winter storage less air space in the tank equals less rust. I know petrol deteriorates with time but not in 6 months. Also getting a car out of storage and finding it has plenty of fuel is a delight. Asimo, Shite Ron and mat_the_cat 3
