Six-cylinder Posted May 6, 2016 Author Posted May 6, 2016 wheels. maserati. now. No MOT yet, but then it will be out and about for the summer and you can always give it a drive. If the weather is good for Shitefest I will be looking for volunteer drivers to get as many of our cars to the farm as we can. eddyramrod, Bucketeer and skattrd 3
Six-cylinder Posted May 6, 2016 Author Posted May 6, 2016 My 2CV has been a pig to start if it is not used for a number of weeks because the pump does not pull up the fuel at cracking speeds, so easy start has to be added and the small fire was a bit frightening so I have felt the need to sort the problem. Last night GoGentley came to see me to bring me the new Fuel pump he had got for me when ordering some other parts. Dollywobbler suggested it is a common problem and one fix is a hand priming bulb pump for the fuel line so I ordered one of those as well. I like the fact that the new main fuel pump has "Made In France" stamped in it. outlaw118, Bucketeer, CGSB and 1 other 4
Six-cylinder Posted May 6, 2016 Author Posted May 6, 2016 Definitely interested in helping with that plan! I really need you to come for the week before and after to achieve max numbers! hairnet 1
Six-cylinder Posted May 6, 2016 Author Posted May 6, 2016 Its sunny, 19° C and I own a MK1 MX5, what else should I drive about in today! outlaw118 and DVee8 2
skattrd Posted May 6, 2016 Posted May 6, 2016 I'd be careful with those fuel primers Chris, I've had 2 disintegrate in the last year due to petrol eating them. Sigmund Fraud 1
Six-cylinder Posted May 6, 2016 Author Posted May 6, 2016 I'd be careful with those fuel primers Chris, I've had 2 disintegrate in the last year due to petrol eating them. I am also concerned where to mount it to keep it away from too much heat, not obvious on first look?
Six-cylinder Posted May 7, 2016 Author Posted May 7, 2016 This will be interesting after at least 2 years of no activity I am going to see if I can fire up our old JCB 3C Mk3. We had found that we had a local digger owner driver 1 miles from our field who is so much better than me, more accurate, quicker with his machine and friendly with his prices I had not bothered to get mine going when I needed something done. For Shitefest I wanted to extend the access road towards the camping area in case it was wet and gave him a call, but he now works full time for somebody else and can’t help us. This evening I have ordered engine and hydraulic oil ready for the start up. I need a good stock of engine oil because when it is working hard it burns a gallon a day! Supernaut Posted May 7, 2016 Posted May 7, 2016 A gallon a day... of oil?! Jesus wept, does it even have piston rings any more?
richardmorris Posted May 7, 2016 Posted May 7, 2016 I am also concerned where to mount it to keep it away from too much heat, not obvious on first look?Front chassis leg where the pipe/ metal bit/ fuel pipe exchange is?
Six-cylinder Posted May 7, 2016 Author Posted May 7, 2016 A gallon a day... of oil?! Jesus wept, does it even have piston rings any more? I think not, if you work it hard you can get red hot embers leaping from the exhaust!
Six-cylinder Posted May 7, 2016 Author Posted May 7, 2016 Front chassis leg where the pipe/ metal bit/ fuel pipe exchange is? Thanks I will have a look when I get it back, hopefully next week.
The Reverend Bluejeans Posted May 10, 2016 Posted May 10, 2016 Sorry to disappoint but it is just a 500 V8 only 330 bhp. It is in full working order, just I have not got room for it at home at the moment so I have put it in storage for a while. Damn and blast! Still. PHWOOOOAAAR EH?
Six-cylinder Posted May 10, 2016 Author Posted May 10, 2016 HELP Needed! Any trained negotiators here, Talk me out of this.... flat4alfa, strangeangel, oldcars and 1 other 4
HMC Posted May 10, 2016 Posted May 10, 2016 That does look great! Which v6 is it? Moonstone green IIRC, as I should know...Although mine is the the diesel.
Six-cylinder Posted May 10, 2016 Author Posted May 10, 2016 I don't know but it is Auto does that tell you? Club SE is that helps.
oldcars Posted May 10, 2016 Posted May 10, 2016 Don't buy it, needs a smiley rear plate, will only cost you more money. Have you collected it yet? Six-cylinder and eddyramrod 2

burraston2006 Posted May 10, 2016 Posted May 10, 2016 Looks good! I've got a black MGZT tourer rear bumper if you want it. It's in black with no trim and been sat outside for 12 months. The millstone can see it from the lounge window so I'm under orders to get shot of it!
hairnet Posted May 10, 2016 Posted May 10, 2016 Cheap snuff? Not about to imminently break/need belts Do it Asking that question should earn you a yellow name:lol: HMC 1

Six-cylinder Posted May 10, 2016 Author Posted May 10, 2016 None of you are being very helpful if the worst you can come up with is the rear number plate needs replacing for a more stylish one! oldcars and flat4alfa 2
holbeck Posted May 10, 2016 Posted May 10, 2016 TBH I'm not a 75 fan. But that is pretty much the spec. that I would choose for myself. flat4alfa 1
Six-cylinder Posted May 10, 2016 Author Posted May 10, 2016 TBH I'm not a 75 fan. But that is pretty much the spec. that I would choose for myself. It would have leather and not light green for me.
holbeck Posted May 10, 2016 Posted May 10, 2016 It would have leather and not light green for me. Does that mean you have talked yourself out of it?
dollywobbler Posted May 10, 2016 Posted May 10, 2016 Sod the leather. Horrible stuff. Velour is where it's at. Auto is the proper gearbox. Colour is nice. What's not to love? I can see Shitefest being cancelled due to lack of space in the field at this rate though... Six-cylinder, outlaw118, Asimo and 1 other 4
Six-cylinder Posted May 10, 2016 Author Posted May 10, 2016 Does that mean you have talked yourself out of it? Yes I think so, the final decision will be made when Mrs Cyl gets home. The worry is the ABS light is on, the seller says it can be put out long enough to reMOT it but comes back on. I am being offered it for £350.
flat4alfa Posted May 10, 2016 Posted May 10, 2016 What! £350 for a good looking estate with a V6 and auto? That's not even proper money. It will break for money back, come June. It's not exactly got a sniffy MOT history.
eddyramrod Posted May 10, 2016 Posted May 10, 2016 Buy it and Roffle it. I'm in, it's exactly my spec!
flat4alfa Posted May 10, 2016 Posted May 10, 2016 Two Moonstone Green Rover 75 Estates were used by Cliff Richard's 'Kids on Court' campaign. Added topical kudos right there. trigger, Six-cylinder, holbeck and 2 others 5
