wuvvum Posted May 13, 2024 Posted May 13, 2024 I've got a spare bottle of LHM in the shed that I can bring if we're going to try and get it going at the next FOD weekend. MOT exempt too so slap a year's tax on it and use it for the chip run! Six-cylinder, LightBulbFun and HillmanImp 1 2
dean36014 Posted May 14, 2024 Posted May 14, 2024 That's even worse than the cx parts car I've just bought. There's literally no solid metal from the bulkhead forward and no sills behind the trims. Mechanically it seems spot on though. chaseracer and Six-cylinder 2

beko1987 Posted May 14, 2024 Posted May 14, 2024 Can we turn the interior from the scrapper into a fancy 3 piece suite for the barn? Or is it in good enough condition to remove as a full matched set, clean and resell/pass on? Six-cylinder 1

You are welcome to try but my experience of Citroen interiors of this age except GTi, is the outer material disintegrates in use.
Six-cylinder Posted May 16, 2024 Author Posted May 16, 2024 An evening with the cows. This evening was "Motors at the Museum" in Milton Keynes organised by the Lions Club. Not as well attended as usual but there were three events in MK tonight and there had been rain earlier. Mrs6C, brownnova, Shite Ron and 6 others 9
Zelandeth Posted May 16, 2024 Posted May 16, 2024 Dangit... I'd been keeping half an eye open for that one but managed to miss it.
Six-cylinder Posted May 18, 2024 Author Posted May 18, 2024 A morning with the Motorbikes. Today was another trip for the Morris 1300, this time to a classic car gathering at Pure Triumph in Woburn. LightBulbFun, Shite Ron, Dyslexic Viking and 2 others 5

MondeoBlues Posted May 22, 2024 Posted May 22, 2024 Pretty sure I'm available on 15-16 June. Unless I've forgotten something, although if that's the case, it can't have been that important. Six-cylinder 1

grogee Posted May 22, 2024 Posted May 22, 2024 @Six-cylinder and @Mrs6C - thank you once again for the generous open invite, it really is above and beyond the call of duty for a crap car forum. Just as I was plucking up the courage to attend, I realise that I'm in Lincs that weekend for classic car charity rally. My prediction, based on zero evidence or science, is that June will be glorious weather. Have a wonderful weekend, dung beetles. Six-cylinder and hairnet 1 1

Six-cylinder Posted May 23, 2024 Author Posted May 23, 2024 9 hours ago, High Jetter said: Needs twin carbs! That would be nice, but I am surprised how well it pulls on its single carb rated at 60 bhp. Our 72 bhp Metro only has a single and apart from being sort of a cruising gear is a pleasure to drive. Next month the plan is to have the MG Metro MK1 out for the Mini & Metro show at Gaydon so I will be able to do a back to back comparison. Also I wonder how my 40 bhp 998cc Mini is going to feel compared to these powerful 1275cc cars. Tommyboy12, High Jetter, Coprolalia and 1 other 4
Tommyboy12 Posted May 23, 2024 Posted May 23, 2024 The Mini being spritely will depend on the diff ratio more than anything. Minis feel quick if theyre on a 3.4 diff even with 40hp. Ive driven a 998 with a 3.9 diff and it was almost quick, but it was doing 5000rpm at 70mph! But if its a 2.9 (as per Mini City E) it will feel sluggish but have super long legs for the motorway. My 998 (which 10" wheels) has a 2.9 diff and you can definitely feel it once youre into 4th. But it also does 70mph at 3500rpm so is a real nice motorway cruiser.
Six-cylinder Posted May 24, 2024 Author Posted May 24, 2024 Yesterday I took Morris to an MG Car Club lunch. Nothing remarkable except a Nissan Silvia unconnected to our group with a lady who bought it new. Dyslexic Viking, Floatylight, High Jetter and 7 others 10
