Have GRP bodies when most other models of their general types had steel bodies 2. Are, equally unusually, steered via a steering wheel, which was a rare option for their respective models 3. Are models that also had tiller steering options! 4. Were available new in 1978 - the last year of manufacture for one and the first year of manufacture for the other 5. Have twin cylinder engines 6. Have one forward and one reverse gear 7. Do not require any kind of driving licence to operate them legally on their usual transport network 8. Have a single seat for the driver and no passenger seat 9. Get blown about by high winds! 10. Have a 'niche' following! 11. Used to be painted blue. over their original GRP colour... Teal has been repainted since... 12. Arrived at the FoD on the back of another wheeled conveyance I dare say both bob about in the water quite well, although only one of them is supposed to be there! There are probably other similarities too... chris nerd 0 claire nerd 1 beko1987, LightBulbFun, Mrs6C and 1 other 4

I'd guess it has been modified since new with the lower superstructure on the front, as the tug style features a short full-height cabin and a long front deck. Six-cylinder Posted October 21, 2021 Author Posted October 21, 2021 I have had the E320 Coupe for over 12 weeks, but today was the first time I have driven it. It was never going to be instant because I bought it broken and had to have repairs done. Then it was dry in a fuel crisis and ended up shoved in a corner of the drive blocked in. Finally today it had a clear run to the road, then the fuel light came on. I took it to Tesco and found no queuing so filled it up and got a Pez picture! I think for now it will share duties with the Clio so neither of them will be worked to death. chaseracer, richardmorris, Snake Charmer and 8 others 11
richardmorris Posted October 21, 2021 Posted October 21, 2021 I hope you enjoy it. I did. On average I’d expect 360miles from a full tank before the fuel light comes on again. I have made it to north wales and back on in tank which is 420miles. Snake Charmer 1

You must have driven with care as 420 miles from a 15.4 gal tank calculates to 27.3 mpg. With my last E320 Cab I got 24-26 mpg. I put 12.9 gals in yours today, the low warning light was just started to flash so 2.5 gals still left. Snake Charmer 1

That was a fill up at home then drive straight up to wrexham from bagshot with no stopping, and straight back home again the next day ( funeral trip, no socialising). I can’t work on gallons In real life and need to convert litres to fuel consumption. 420 and the fuel light just on full time was the best record in the uk. In France I could do about 30mpg with the roofrack and bike on the car.

However, your 504 floppytop is light years ahead in terms of everything - not only is it stunning, I can't get my head around the fact it's only a couple of years newer! The 504 still looks relatively modern today compared to the Triumph. High Jetter 1

The Herald/Vitesse introduced in 1959 was at the end of its life while the Peugeot 504 Cabriolet was only introduced from the early 1970s until 1982.

beko1987 Posted October 22, 2021 Posted October 22, 2021 Phoenix had to stay in all day today as I went out, although not to the office But I got to drive the lancia trevi Which bar some less than fab brakes (although they improved as we went) was brilliant! Goes along the road really nicely, although it's a bit stumbly under load but that should be easily solved with a service and fuel that didn't come out the back of the c15 van... Equally after it's header tank replacement it came up to temp fine, the heaters were warm and all seemed well. Coolant went very dark so could do with a flush once it's all a bit more trustworthy but that's no biggie. Also drove one of the Citroën gs's which was also amazingly brilliant but IDK, the trevi made me smile more (helped Chris move some cars and check the antifreeze in some others etc) Have a pic of an empty hole Shite Ron, Dick Cheeseburger, LightBulbFun and 3 others 5 1

Zelandeth Posted October 22, 2021 Posted October 22, 2021 It really is a nice thing to drive isn't it? While looking bonkers I was really impressed with the ergonomics of that dash too...it looks mad but just...works! You need to observe it from the driver's seat though before it really makes any sense. The cooling system is basically going to need flush after flush after flush and hopefully will eventually come clean. This is what was running out of it last year after I'd had the hosepipe running through it for about ten minutes. Yes, I did catch the antifreeze, well most of it, that came out and the first couple of systems worth of water to come out. This is just water and...either muddy rust or rusty mud. Between those two I'm not sure! I kept thinking I'd got most of it out, but every time you stopped flushing for a few minutes then turned the water back on it started out just as bad again. Six-cylinder Posted October 22, 2021 Author Posted October 22, 2021 That was a busy day, 24 cars checked for antifreeze! We then moved some cars in storage so we could fit in the GS, Trevi and 306 Cab in we brought back from the FoD. When your car puts out a lot of condensation how can you be sure its not HGF, when it is air cooled! I have heard some excuses that I need to go home, but the parrot needs me is a new one. So Zoe took them. A huge thanks to Beko and his stepfather Keith. beko1987, Coprolalia, LightBulbFun and 5 others 8
