Fuck is wrong with people? Why is everything found in a hedge, back garden, canal listed as β€œbarn find”? Are people just thick ?Β

Yes.

It's an Americanism that has seeped into the conscience of the stupid, and it's not just applied to cars either.

Looks to be an original UK car. For some reason (am sure others can enlighten) lots of Euro and US cars imported from the 30s onwards had much shorterΒ plates - ABC11, NUC9E etc. They crop up a bit in period photos and the odd survivor.Β

Β£2500:

158261079_10226369328678714_180903387390

1955 oval beetle chassis. Shortened 15-3/4” down to mk1 GP beach buggy length. Fits Manx etc With a bit of shuffling. Framehead is currently being replaced, chassis is otherwise solid but has no floor pans fitted, as I know people often prefer to do custom box framed ones. I Can fit some if you require. Comes with spring plates, torsion bars, complete handbrake setup and correct pre-55 pedal assembly (a £££ part!) but nothing else. Current V5 in my name, correctly registered stating Volkswagen convertible historic vehicle. Non-Transferable 6 digit plate. Open to swaps and trades.

Swap for 4 empty beer cans? More metal in them than your beetle*

Shorter registrations were reserved for American cars so they could fit in the standard size characters in the smaller space for US plates. A good way of telling an original UK car from an import.

Ah, man, that Duple Dominant brings back waves of nostalgia – back in '92ish, Partridge busesΒ of Hadleigh looked after some contracts for my school, and on occasion their Dominant, with the same rear lights as that one, would park next to their early Duple Laser, and I'd play a sort of mental Spot The Difference game.Β

I say mental, because there was NO WAY that I'd do that visibly or audibly in front of other pubescent "humans" at an Essex comprehensive school.

Also short regsΒ were issued to motorbikes, scooters and mopeds for space reasons...

What are the rear lights from?Β  My first thought was Chrysler Horizon but I was wrong.Β  Maybe a Datsun?

Thats a headscratcher! I thought Japanese,Β  but Duple was "Britain's finest coachbuilder" so surely would have picked something homegrown/readily obtainable. Unless they simply picked up a job lot of obscure parts on the cheap from a supplier that was struggling to offload them.Β  Of course, they could have been retrofitted at some stage during its passenger carrying days (or after) - in which case anything goes. An early example of reversing lights integral within the cluster?

When I first saw the bus I mistakenly thought it a Mercedes.

The rear light clusters are from a W114 Merc...

What is that?

I owned one that ended up looking like that.

Grass track mini, T boned by a Mk 2 Escort in a ladies race. They cut the roof off to get my son's ex girlfriend out.

Took her to Pinderfields. Blocks on head, strapped down to a board, full trip.

Was a little worrying at the time, but they let her out after a couple of days. No harm done
