bub2006
Trying to get through all the little niggles with the vdp before I throw it in for an mot. It has been stood for a while so wondering if that's part of the issue but the battery light doesn't come on with ignition on or when running. Any ideas as to why it wont illuminate? My reliants alternator diode pack was dying and light flickered at idle and came on at higher revs so I don't think its the alternatorThanks folks
dollywobbler
Could be as simple as the bulb blown. On some cars, they won't charge if the bulb has blown as it's the same 12v feed that 'excites' the alternator.

MarvinsMom
it could be a blown bulb in the clock pack, assuming that the battery is ok?
bub2006
Will get bulb checked if battery isn't charging. If it is though then it wont be such a big issue!
M'coli
Easier to check the bulb first, I'd say - just earth it against the engine with the ignition on should do.
Noel Tidybeard
battery light has a red holder and is rated at 2w iircnormal dash lights in white holder are 1.2wyou can use white one to test but you will prolly need more revs than idle to put light out
